so any thoughts on the 255 to 285? ive been considering both sizes for when i wear out my current set of 265.
I liked the 255s. I went to Moab and Wyoming/ Montana/ Colorado with them and they did good. That being said I like the 285s better. Just because they feel a little more planted and seem to absorb the road bumps a tad better

thank you ! I would not mind a bit softer ride. plus i started thinking the options for the 255 are limited to only a handful of tires. if i was to need a new tire in a hurry i could be stuck. vs. the 285 being pretty common.

Figured I better take advantage of the nice weather before the bottom drops out for the weekend. Installed my OEM modified cover. I blatantly stole the idea from members here. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

How did you modify this factory cover?

Messed around in Forscan today I am trying to eliminate some chimes but I'm still not having luck. While in there, I was tempted to activate the line lock and launch control how come no one has found this easter egg yet ?

Botched an oil change.

1st I got my butt kicked trying to get the filter off, then I double gasketed the new filter and made a tremendous mess.
I think many of us who have changed our own oil have ever done that before.
And also experienced a filter that was put on by a gorilla as well.
I did the same thing in the late 90’s and have since not repeated.

so ive had good luck doing oil changes on the 5g using a filter socket, extension, and ratchet. you can get them that fit the filter perfectly. then on drivers side undo the rubber flaps behind the tire and the filter is a breeze to spin on and off.

Thats what i do as well. Makes it really easy. This is the one i bought that supports the Wix oil filter for the 5g. You need to know the number of flutes your filter has before you buy one, not just the diameter.

It’s a crappy picture but the SmartCap is on. Install wasn’t too bad, but the temp is only 6 degrees. My decked drawers do not fit without modification, but that’s for another day. The brackets on the Ranger attach to the tie down points, and I’ll need to adjust them but… see temp above. Overall, I am really happy with the cap.
