Cheech's custom mattress arrived yesterday and here it is in the truck.

So ... it probably doesn't need the towels to level it, it's so thick that it also doesn't need any front support. Cheech is 20 pounds and it would probably be okay for a dog up to 40 pounds. More than that and some front support might be needed.

The mattress was measured for our seat positions, if you're taller than my NBA-physique of 5'6" (on a good day, early in the day), then the mattress would need to be narrower. But the foam is soft enough that if the seat needed to go back, it certainly could.

He hasn't tried it in the truck yet, I need to tweak how his harness hooks up (no ejecting-of-the-Cheech-through-the-windshield allowed).

Here we start with a 4knines 54" seat cover - his water bowl and dining-out bed is in the foot well, because, you know, why should he ever lie on a hard surface ... =p

High-tech with towels to make it flat (towels are always handy when we kayak, so this is an "emergency" stash)

Here's the 54"x18"x6" Everflex Dacron-wrapped mattress with Sunbrella cover (not that old hard plastic feeling stuff, feels more like supple canvas now)

Add his BloBlo bed (that's the brand - those funny Chinese - and available on Amazon and Walmart) and his American Blanket Company fleece which really clashes since it's more of a mint than a teal, ugh, so hard to be fashionable! =p

HI David, you've got a Supercab right and I'm the same height as you so I think I might copy you and get one of these for our doggo. Could I ask what firmness you got? They offer 4 or 5 options and I'm not sure how soft/hard to make it. Many thanks, Phil

Yep, supercab and here's exactly what I ordered from foamorder.com:

Item: Custom cut conventional foam, Rectangle shape, EverFlex™ V24 Soft foam, as a bottom foam, with DACRON WRAP (all sides wrapped)
Specs: Width: 54 in, Depth: 18 in, Thickness: 6 in

Item: Sunbrella fabric cover, 5416-0000 Canvas Aruba, Rectangle shape, inside fabric edges overlocked
Specs: Width: 54 in, Depth: 18 in, Thickness: 6 in (this autofilled in from the mattress)
Zipper: Across WIDTH

It was pricey but it shows no signs of wear. Overall, I think I'd order the same size again. I'm 5'6' and Kate's 5'2" but she leans the passenger seat waaaay back.

The Dacron wrap is probably excessive, we've never removed the cover. But it's supposed to make that easier and fill the edges of the cover more smoothly for a better look (but you can't see that once it's in the truck).

I have added a bed bridge thing in the back because I left the rear seats in, so their profile leaves gaps back there. The blanket we use does a good job of filling that in but because Cheech has torn both his CCLs in the past, we're really worried about any place he can step into. Now our old Australian Shepherd would never have been a worry for that, it's not like a huge gap a dog would fall into and be trapped! =D

I'd double-check my measurements to see if that would fit well in your cab and meet your needs. The thickness does get it pretty level with the center console and makes it easier (too easy!) for Cheech to go back and forth. He really should be tethered when we're on the highway ...

There are less expensive fabrics and the Sunbrella is overkill for interior use. I suppose we could pull it out and sit on it outside, but we've never done that.

Cheech is only 22 pounds but that V24 is pretty dense and would work well for 70 to 100-pound dogs, like our daughter's sled dog. Maybe even more, I mean I laid on it and it felt like a nice mattress. Thinner would feel different though.

LOL, clearly I could blab all day about this - so feel free to ask questions or ask for more photos, if there's anything you can count on, I like to share pics! =D

Good luck!

gives a bit of idea to the "give" it has

Topaz is a former lead dog who's raced around the world and he's a solid 70-75 pounds, you can see that the thickness does raise him up. Ideal for Cheech so he can see out, but tall for Topaz, although his head isn't hitting the headliner

I’m super stocked all my cross referencing worked. Got my brembos delivered today. Bolt mounting holes are identical they’re 4 piston but in a way smaller footprint and a whole lot lighter. Another fun fact on why I’m choosing a factory optioned brake is. If and for whatever reason I need pads and high quality I can obtain them anywhere. These use a Brembo universal pad so say you ask for a Camaro with these you’d be able to just ask a clerk for those or say any other car with these. I think a genesis has them, the ones I got from a 07 gt500, there’s Camaro, Porsche I mean the list is long. Anyway here’s side by side with s550 got 4 piston vs gt500 4 piston in black. This will keep it compact and light with a huge list for pads. O mind you a shaved a ton of dead weight from the gts and theyre still heavier and larger

Did some off road exploring, got the truck dirty. Then since it was raining I splashed the 5g through every rain puddle and street flood I could find! Worked better than me power washing the underside for an hour and was a lot more fun.

It is! so, it is a two car garage and fits two full size trucks but you have to back one in and nose the other. Then you can only get in on the driver side of each one as the passenger side is too close to the wall to open the doors. plus it is an old house so the washer, dryer, and gas hot water heater are also in the garage along with the main breaker box... If a breaker trips and two vehicles are inside I have to back one out to flip the breaker back on. no joke. then all the decades of stuff collected into the space is not helping. its an intricate jigsaw puzzle to make it all fit. snug on the ceiling as well. If i go up to 33 inch tires on the 5g I do not think I can clear the door. if both trucks are in the garage I cannot get to my tools. my niece can. I cant...

Haha, it’s no joke, I have to back in too and if I need to get to my tools, I have to nose my truck out of the garage. I even anchored a wheel chock to the floor so I don’t back into the shelving.

So, I know just how you feel…
