Lariat B&O Subwoofer Install

After a long planning process I finally got my 300 watt amp and 10” subwoofer project nearly complete.

Here is a list of parts used:
- Aussie Subwoofer Box
- Aussie amp rack
- JL Audio 10” subwoofer
- ACM 1.300 amplifier
- Crutchfield CK8 amp wiring kit
- PlugnPlayKits B&O amp connector
- ACR-1 bass remote

To get the power to the amp I went through the drivers side fire wall and tucked the wire along the base plastic trim. All wires are tucked under factory carpet.

To tune the amp, disconnect the subwoofer and run a 50hz or 60hz subwoofer test track and turn up the gain until the light turns on and then back it off for the light to shut off. That sets your gain. Once your gain is set you can plug the subwoofer back in.

To turn off the factory bass rolloff I turned the amp Threshold all the way up and barely moved the Level. It works for now but I may readjust after I install the bass gain knob for a cleaner sound profile. You may need to readjust the max gain down after you set the accubass

*Note* I already removed fake engine noise via forscan.

*Note* after the install my parking sensor beeps come through the tweeters on the doors. They are much louder but not unbearable.

Only thing left to do is mount the bass remote somewhere in the dash area.

Nice! I have the same box with the 10” JL and a RF amp. Can’t remember the amp model # ?‍ but it’s just over 300rms I think. I had a shop do mine because I’m lazy like that. ?

Yeah I put my Aussie Box under the pass seat where the storage box was. I have pics of mine. Yours looks good. I replaced all my door speakers and tweets also.

Just wondering. Has everyone who installed a sub under the seat felt that it met expectations? I really like mine. I do wisj it would reach a little deeper at times but there’s only so much a 10” with .5 or less airspace can do. It still hits pretty hard tho and is leaps and bounds above the timy B&O “subwoofer”.

Edit: Forgot to mention (even tho it’s sorta visible in the pic) I’m running the Rockford Fosgate Prime R2-750X1 amp. I was told it’s good for fighting the bass roll ?‍. I didn’t argue and handed them money ?

I am actually blown away with my build. I have upgraded audio on most of my vehicles and have done two custom sub installs. This is a huge improvement from factory.

Does your amp have a control knob? Or have you messed with the settings at all since the install?

Yeah, the control knob was installed on the little panel underneath the steering wheel. Makes for a quick easy adjustment if needed and the hole left behind will be out of sight if I return to stock. I’ve left every be except for using the knob to tone the bass down on occasion. No issues with anything and it sounds great considering it’s tacked on to an OEM system. If I keep the truck I would eventually add a DSP and replace the door drivers.

I have the JL 10" as well powered by an Alpine BBX-T600 and totally agree with your comments. I really like mine, it is VERY tight and snappy, but only can move so much air. 99% of the time it does everything I want and adds a ton of warmth to the sound. But then I have those moments where I want to shake the rear view mirror and need a 15" sub in a 4 cubic foot, ported box. Music and sound is very subjective, I know. But paired with some Polk Audio door speaker replacements running on the stock amp (non-B&O system in my XLT), it makes music fun again. I just wish there was better equalization. The 3-band EQ isn't near enough for a good tune.

Agree with the comment that this is not the same as a full custom audio build. But for a factory add on the depth it adds to the music is great.

Nice work! I would’ve kept the B&O like you did, but five years ago there were not as many of the custom integration tools to make it happen easily. Your path is much more affordable but my path had the benefit of getting rid of the fake engine noise and all factory eq.

Finally found a good spot to mount the amp dial. When it warms up I will clean up the wiring mess.
