New Tire Decision

Approaching 30k at about the 3 year Mark.

I am going to need new shoes for next summers towing. I only go about 750 miles a year towing about 5,500# trailer, I do have some class 5 and class 6 dirt roads to deal with but not every day, I also have to deal with snow and slush in the winter.

265/60/R18

So I am looking for the tow group recommendations for Towing. Under wheels there are lots of opinions but almost none of those people tow anything. That is basically get the biggest tire/lift combo, and screw daily driving MPG. (which for me my summer MPG averages 25 on 87 octane, I tow with higher octane though)

While off road tires look good, MPG suffers. I want road miles. since 99% of my miles driven are on asphalt.

Michelin LTX M/S are the top of the line for road comfort and, with the proper load rating, will handle the towing no problem.

I have Cooper AT3's at the moment and like them. A little sketchy in the rain now that they're half worn down.
Had two sets of Firestone Destination A/T's on my old Sport Trac, good in rain and snow, quiet for an A/T, I liked them too, either would suit your needs I think.

Times 2 on the Firestone Destination AT’s. Great tires. I’ll likely buy them again when my Grabbers wear out.

I'll jump in and say I will not be replacing my pair of General Grabber ATX with an identical set...

I have plenty of tread after 30k, but the MPG suffered, loud and need rebalancing frequently.

I am eyeing the above mentioned Michelin LTX and maybe the Falken Rubitrek

I too like the Cooper AT3's. I have had them on for 8 months now and they are quiet and work good off road the little that I was able to do this summer. My mechanic recommended them to me and so far so good!

More than likely, they will be my next set of tires in a few months.

In mid-September I put a set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires on my Highlander. They are a great tire in my opinion. I purchased them from America’s Tires along with new TPMS senors.

Michelin LTX M/S sounds like your best bet. My dad ran them on his F350 for years and loved them. Only replaced them due to dry rot as the truck only gets driven to and from the marina with his boat.

Those are what will be going on mine, although I'm probably going to use my 17" set of wheels since I'm not a huge fan of the chrome 18" Lariat ones I have on there now. (Just bought the wheels because I got a smoking deal on wheels and a brand new set of tires)

These are what I have installed on my 2 wheel drive Ranger. Been on right at 8000 miles now, and virtually no wear at all.
Just had them rotated and re-balanced at Discount Tire and tread depth was almost at new range.
These are 10 ply and I got them as the OE 4 ply rated Bridgestone's were just not up to the job of towing our heavy travel trailer. When towing rears are at 50 lbs and fronts are at 45 lbs psi.
Everyday I run at 40 front and 45 rear psi. Ride both towing and solo are very good, but they are a bit noisy at speed.
