Cruise Control won't set

First issue with the Ranger yesterday. I turned the cruse control on which illuminated the indicator in gray which is normal. But when I pushed the "SET+" button, nothing. Tried shutting down and restarting, nothing. Tried disconnection the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting, nothing. Broke out the owner's manual searching for the cruse control fuse, none listed. Any advice?

Truck has 28,000 miles, 3.5" lift, aftermarket intrusion beams, and 34' tires but none of this has caused the CC to fail before.

Do you have Adaptive cruise control? If so make sure the lens is clean.

or try turning the Adaptive off.

Check the brake lights, see if they are on/engine running, without applying brakes-- Brake petal switches usually, have input to this system, for cancellation feature.

I experienced a similar issue with mine and what I found is that as long as you keep you foot on the accelerator the cruise will not kick in. Try releasing the accelerator after setting the speed.

To go along with what others mentioned, when you push set, does it actually change the text from "SET" to your speed or just stay at "SET"?

It should change to the speed, but will stay grayed out until you release the throttle.

Right, hence the question.

Also @Jon_H - Have you tried using the "SET -" button as well? It could be a button issue, but both of those will set the speed if you don't have one currently set.

Just an FYI, we corrected this error on a 2019 Ranger, turns out the sensor for the adaptive cruise control (under front license plate) had dust and bugs on it, cleaned the sensor and all worked fine, your mileage may vary.
