Too old to change oil ?

I learned a trick to rotating my 33" tires when I watched a Thai girl mechanic mounting tractor tires on trucks...she rolls the tire (almost taller than her!) up close up close next to the hub with lugs aligned...then she tips the tire against the hub, shoved a long pry bar under the tire, jammed a brick under the bar/tire as a fulcrum then stepped on the bar while guiding the wheel against the lugs...once one lug landed, she just shoves the tire home and bolt on...

Thats a tuff girl! I remember back in the late 80s we got a service call on I-80. Truck blew 8 truck tires. Broke em all down with hand bead-breaker and bars. The boss got out his ether n lighter to get em to take air. After we got through and no more arm hair or eyebrows he decided to invest in a rubber tube we lubed and fit over the rim.

I had been a Mechanic for 44 years when I retired 4+ years ago. I'm 70 years old and still do the oil and filter changes, on the Ranger and my Yamaha Tracer 9GT. I can slide under the Ranger without a need to lift it other than tire rotations. I have been taking the wife's Escape SE Hybrid to the dealer because I can't get under it easily. I think I still have a few more oil changes left in me barring any health issues. Party on!

62, almost 63, still change my own oil and jack it up and rotate tires.
Still haven't found the proper placement of the drain pan for the filter on the Ranger but I'm getting better.
Probably going to get a new knee later this year and another one next year.
I'm in the gym several days a week though and not your average 62 year old.
I'd already done four when my wife started shooting video and got my free t-shirt from the Army.

It's not the lying on the ground that's the issue these days...it's the getting back up that is sometimes problematic.

To me it's less of an age thing and more of a finances thing. When I was young and poor I could save a few bucks and do it myself. These days it's not about money anymore but my time. I don't enjoy changing my oil so I just pay someone else to do it, and much faster than it would take me.

I still change the oil on my bikes though, I can do it fast and I have a bike lift.

True that! I am 75 and I haven't done an oil change in years.

I have used my Ford Pass points for my 1st 2 oil changes....I bought my tires from a small tire shop that included lifetime free rotations..... , a little over 9K miles on the truck and have rotated and rebalanced tires twice....I am almost 65 yrs old and have done all the suspension, leaf spring, one piece drive shaft swaps by my self...I have learned how to use extra Jacks, breaker bars , pry bars, cheater pipes to make up for my lack of strength....I have developed thin skin on my arms and hands , after every mod my arms and hands look like I have gone rounds with a Badger.... Doing future oil changes myself , no problem. easy..?..

58 and refuse to let anyone work on any of my vehicles unless absolutely necessary. I bust my axx to take care of my vehicles and to have someone go in and half axx it , leave bolts or fasteners out, or my favorite of all time douse my engine or chassis with oil and leave it there to smoke and burn off - NO THANK YOU. Yes you have driveway spills, yes its a general pita in the Florida heat, yes going to the dump to dropoff my used oil 2x a year is a bit of a pain but I know the jobs are done right with quality materials I used etc. I have been this way since my teens on all my vehicles and its worked for me .
