You're lucky they all fit. The owner is gone and so I asked the girl at the front desk if I could use his covered area. Thanks God she said yes because it looks like it's coming this way quick. Plus now there's a tornado warning until midnight!?

I'm not sure which part of living in SD I hate more, summer storms or the super cold winter days.

Dave, looks like your new phone is taking good quality pics! Those pics were great!

Thanks Brian. So far I'm loving the new phone but I can't wait until we get our cases delivered on Monday, I hate carrying it around without one. I feel like I'm one step away from an accident waiting to happen. lol

I finally got someone this morning from Verizon that know what he was doing. It only took him about 20 minutes to get me set up where yesterday the lady had me on the phone for almost 4 hours and it was all messed up. ?‍♂

1st thing I got for my 13 was a case. They are fragile. Frustrating when customer service really isn't a service but rather a headache! Glad you're all set up and running!

We've been dodging rain showers and thunderstorms for the past 4 days here. Today we went back over to Custer State Park and walked around Sylvan Lake which is only an easy 1 mile loop around the lake. The trail goes behind the back of the large rocks and loops back around. After last weeks 7 mile hike up to Black Elk Peak I knew Annie wasn't going to go for another strenuous hike for a while. Like every day here lately it started out really nice then the clouds came in but we were already back in the truck going through Needles Hwy again.

We walked the lake clockwise so facing the front of the lake you'll be on the left side of it. When you reach the back you go through this area here which takes you around the large wall of rocks you see in the background in pic #1.

Just a small waterfall on the back side which comes from the front of the rocks.

Once you get around the back you climb up a small set of rock stairs which brings you to the rear right corner and a nice view looking back.

IMG_0226.jpg

There's two set of rocks that jet out into the center of the lake, one larger than the other. This was standing on the smaller one looking at the larger one.

IMG_0227.jpg

It's a pretty easy climb up but Annie still wasn't going up with me on the larger rocks.

IMG_0228.jpg

Looking back at the smaller one I was on first

IMG_0229.jpg

Nice view up here looking at the rear of the lake and the storm clouds coming in.

We headed back down Needles Hwy after the lake to get over to Iron Mountain Rd. That's the road that has the tunnels where you can see Mt. Rushmore through them. Since there really wasn't many vehicles out today I was able to stop at a few different pullouts that were full when we were there on Monday and get a few different pics. Needles is a nice drive and the formations change when you see them from different angles.

We already did the Wildlife Loop on Monday so I bypassed it and went over to Iron Mountain Rd. There's 14 switchbacks, 314 curves, 3 pigtails and 3 tunnels along this route. Oh, there's also some really nice views of Mt. Rushmore too. ?

There are two tunnels which you pass through where you can see Mt Rushmore though. This is the first one which is the farthest view, I parked just past the tunnel and grabbed a few shots. I'm really surprised how good this new phones camera is. I'm guessing this is a mile (if not farther) away and I had it set at 15x zoom and the pics came out pretty clear.

A little farther down you come to the Peter Norbeck Overlook. There's a small walking path that takes you up to a set of large rocks where you can get a really good view of Mt Rushmore, especially if you climb higher up on them.

To give you an idea how far away this is this shot was zoomed in at 15x.

This one was zoomed in at 7x.

The last tunnel is just past the Overlook where you get the best view of Mt. Rushmore while driving through. This is the smallest tunnel and hard to get a good shot through it if there's traffic.
