(song on radio) "I Believe I can Fly"....Woman, 21, is severely injured and unable to speak after flying 120ft through the air 'Dukes of Hazzard-style' after accidentally hitting stationary tow truck ramp at high speed

admit it we all thought about it once or twiceWoman, 21, is severely injured and unable to speak after flying 120ft through the air 'Dukes of Hazzard-style' after accidentally hitting stationary tow truck ramp at high speed

Probably texting or putting on her makeup. ?i hope she recovered etc. but how do you not see something like that ahead and just ramp it lol.
I was on the highway once driving "in convoy" with my sister. Long, empty stretch of road, and my sister starts to pass the only other car in sight; car starts to drift into my sister's path, so she's half in the dirt, honking her horn, and car jerks back into their lane. I then tried to pass, with the exact same result. Dumbass at the wheel is still texting away, staring at their phone instead of the road. The kicker is that there's three or four people in the car. Not one of them got a clue when they nearly traded paint with my sister.
You know, I've seriously thought of getting a sign like that before. It would have to be able to alternate between a few messages. One that I could definitely use around here is "Turn on your d@mn lights!"; there's too many idiots in Ontario that see the faint gleam from their DRLs in front of them, and think that means that they have a full lighting package turned on - instead, they're running around in the dark and/or blowing snow with no tail lights on at all. My other "fantasy" is to get a super-bright LED light bar mounted to the front, and then just come up behind them and turn it on full. "Oh, did I blind you? I didn't see any tail lights, so I didn't know that anyone was there." Unfortunately, that would probably get me into more trouble than it's worth....Saw a guy in a pickup going down the highway and something similar happened. He almost got pushed out of the left lane from a center lane ‘drifter’. He passes and gets in front of them. Then a big red led sign that was covering his whole back window lights up! “Get off your f’n phone and drive!” flashed like 5 times and then went blank. He pumped the gas and off down the road he went. Man that was epic!
It always amazes me how many drive without their lights on. Whether it's early morning or just past sunset I see it all the time here. Almost every newer model has the auto feature which I guess goes back to my stupid meme that they can't even figure that out. ?You know, I've seriously thought of getting a sign like that before. I actually wonder if the auto feature, coupled with DRLs, isn't part of the problem. They know that their car has auto-lights, see that faint gleam from the DRLs, and assume that auto-lights is on without ever bothering to check. It always amazes me how many drive without their lights on. The first thing I did when I got both my '19 & '23 was turn off the DRL's. Some will argue they're good and others can see you better but I fell the same as you and turn them off. Here, you could be lit up like Sids Ranger and they still wouldn't see you. lolI actually wonder if the auto feature, coupled with DRLs, isn't part of the problem. IIRC the NHTSA did a multi-year, multi-jurisdictional study a few years back and concluded that DRLs had a "statistically insignificant" impact (I don't recall them specifying whether the impact was positive or negative) on traffic safety, which is supposed to be their main purpose. Given that and the aforementioned regular experience, IMO they're more trouble than they're worth, and should be banned.
