In Arizona, where road chips are always cracking windshields, several companies now apply a tint/protection film from the outside. Supposedly the chips will bounce off without cracking the glass. But it's expensive -- over $900.

I've got to price ceramic for my Tremor. My 2019 was done by the dealer with regular tint and you're right, it does nothing for heat transfer. Here's a good video showing the difference ceramic tint makes using a heat lamp.

the quote I got was a difference of $40 between ceramic and whatever is right below.

This was only for windshield, though, so I can see how it could add up if you’re doing the whole truck $$$

Thanks Scott. I figure it'll be a couple hundred more than the regular tint but it'll be well worth it here with our heat.

Oh I'm familiar with humidity. I get up in MA and lived there for 51 year and I'll take this heat anyway.

Btw we were in NW AR last fall up in Bella Vista checking out the area for a potential place to move. I really liked it there and the area was really nice with the rolling hills. We'll have to go back one summer though to see if we could deal with the humidity and then the cold winters again.

That’s awesome! NW Arkansas is beautiful, and I love it over there. It’s a totally different climate in Fayetteville compared to where I’m at in NE Arkansas, other side of the state. They also don’t have nearly the mosquito problem we have here.

One of my good customers here just moved to Fayetteville. She's older and wanted to be closer to her daughter and grandkids. She called me shortly after she moved and really likes it there but misses the dry heat here. I think there's less chance of tornados in NW AR too? ?

Yes, I would tend to agree. But this year they’ve been under a lot more warnings, it seems.

Some of the ppf installers down here will do a clear piece on the windshield. Generally it's on cars that have hard to source windshields (supers and exotics).

Same here, mostly done on exotics. They also told me that if your''re outside a lot, the clear will start to yellow in 2-3 years.

Its ppf, not magical.

The newer ppf is better, but not perfect...

That's what glass coverage is for. I have found it to be real nice over the years!

LOL yeah Arizona does have this thing called "Dry Heat", but you can also get the same thing when you turn the oven on in your Kitchen!! Just stick your head in for the best Arizona experience!!

I've been tempted. Already had my 2023 Tremor windshield replaced once due to a road chip. AZ law: zero deductible on broken windshields. They send two guys to your home at different times. One replaces the windshield. The other realigns the camera behind the mirror.
