It’s not shorts in general, but denim - I think there’s a Florida Man or Corvette Owner joke out there about denim shorts. I’m all for denim shorts as long as they’re on Daisy Duke. ?

Congratulations. I've been retired almost two years.
I have been surprised how fast the day goes by, not to mention how fast the weeks and months go by now.
I was joking with friends I may have to go back to work to slow time down lol.

I knew the month and year when I was going to retire from the day I started working. Uncle Sam has a minimum retirement age and years. I hit the eligible years 10 years before I was old enough, had to wait to be old enough. 35.5 years was a long countdown, but it's been the best decision of my life and it's only been less than 2 years. Enjoy your retirement Duke!

Ahhhh the French Canadian system eh? I heard about the strike in France because they wanted to raise it from 62 to 64...I'm not ripe for retirement until I'm 67...

It’s pretty good - there’s the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) that everyone who works pays into through payroll deductions (a very small contribution) and it can be collected at 60 or 65. There is also the Old Age Security (OAS) that we get at 65, whether we’ve worked or not.

They are modest amounts that are meant to help in retirement and not replace savings plans, retirement plans or company/union pensions. Together, they average around $650-700/mth each.

If you’ve properly saved and prepared for retirement, it’s like getting an extra free $1,400/mth just for watching a lot of hockey, loving maple syrup, singing God Save The Queen in school as a kid, and drinking Tim Hortons coffee. Not bad!
