2023 Ranger Tremor
The Tremor build includes 302A, technology package, tow package and a block heater. Approximately 70% of the planned mileage will be towing a 4K TT.
Here is what I have seen so far:
  1. Upfitter fuse box. Make sure it is attached and working? Pull the main cover off and look for a 100A fuse supplying power to aux box?
  2. Inspect paint, door jams, seems top to bottom.
  3. Loss shock bolts? Tie bent tie rod bolts?
  4. Interior for rips and tears.
  5. Test drive - road vibration from tires or front diff?
Immediate add ons for my intended use:
  1. Ford trailer brake (Dealer installed).
  2. Spray in bed liner. (dealer recommended aftermarket due to build delay if ordered from factory)
  3. Dog/seat covers (recommendations appreciated).

Check the bed, hood, tailgate and door alignments. Mine was missing the carpet floor mats. Tremors get both rubber and carpet mats. I had to keep hounding the dealership until they finally got me a set.

I never even went to the dealership in person. I picked up my truck (‘22 Lariat, Tremor) at the docks. I guess I got lucky. Nothing missing, misaligned, broken or damaged from the factory. I feel pretty good about their quality control based on my truck and nothing else. All the deletions however,.

Hood/fender alignment at the corner near the windshield. Fixed it myself by loosening fender bolts and pulling fender out. Apparently, a fairly common issue.

My 2021 XLT will be 2 years old end of April. I'm finally getting around to getting the hood alignment fixed next month when I take it in for yearly state inspection.

At delivery, I said to my salesman, "Don't they even give you floor mats anymore??" He looked at the paperwork, kinda mumbled, and said guess not. Low and behold, the first time I was detailing the interior of the truck and pulled the back seat down, there were my carpeted floor mats, still in the plastic wrap!

First thing when I parked the Ranger in the garage is adjust the parking laser to help locate the vehicle as it was so much larger than the 07 Ranger. Then I loosened the left front fender bolts and pulled the fender into better alignment with the hood... Then into the house to celebrate the new purchase with a glass of Scotch on the rocks....

best,
Phil

Check the door alignments for sure. My driver side rear door is pretty far off and looks odd, I still have not gotten to the dealer to have them look at it but I can definitely tell it is off it is the only one on the truck off. Everything else was good to go. Maybe have them check the trans fluid, Some people have reported that it was off by a little.

Ours had a bronco owners manual. There was also a dent in the hood that I can only see when I’m driving…took 3-4 hours in the eight hour drive home for me to notice it.

just noticed today there is no soft open/damper mechanism for glove box door.

You didn't miss the glove box damper, Ford deleted them.

Both rear doors are mis-aligned. Just got approval to bring it in to the dealer. I guess they outsource body work. Was told it could take a couple of days to a week to correct.

I took about an hour before delivery to test every feature (electrical and mechanical) on the truck...everything worked.

No damper, thank goodness, and no I'm not missing one at all. Also missed any bs upselling as I bought during early days of covid and didn't have to set foot inside the dealership.

Embarrassing but, I was home 3 days with my 2021 lariat before I noticed the rear fender decal said 4x4 and not FX4. I had looked at several on the lots and online. Assumed this 4x4 was fx4. Duh! Don't know that it matters much.

Hi Sam,

Something like you have is likely a haul away driver dropping a chain on to your hood. The folks are uncaring as they get paid for delivery, not condition when delivered unless really blatant and in most cases they blame the Railroad shippers. Sad situation...

Back story, We had a Vice Presidential show at the Dearborn Proving Grounds which are across from the engineering center. One of the trucks to be shown was in Florida at our then test track before we sold it off to Harley Davidson. Somehow I was needed to receive this truck from the haul away company on Saturday. This "important" truck came in with the nose up position but the roof was caved in on a bridge abutment somewhere on the trip. I freaked out but the driver was non plussed... Damn I thought it was below 12.5 feet high when I measured it. So call to higher ups in truck and he told me...this has to be fixed somehow... This is a KEY vehicle. So called my buddy at Livernois at his home and he got his troops to arrive at Livernoise and tackle repairing the top six inches of the roof. Removing the windshield and it was bondo city. Then to repaint the area and I picked it up Sunday night and delivered it to the Test Track for the Monday show. The guys worked night and day on it and it looked great...for the VP review...then the bondo gave way, but the review and drive approved the 400M engine with 4 barrel carburetor for production...Whew!

This is just one of many behind the facade called Ford for which I got involved for some reason...

Best,
Phil
