Not to be that guy... But is this even legal? Using spot lights as high beams. I feel like there must be some regulation for location, size, direction, brightness or something.

I mean, I live in Florida so anything is legal here, but that's not the case in the rest of the country...

Who are you affecting with high beams? It’s just you when high is on..

That's not the point.

The point is merely the legality of it.

Never seen such a thing.

But I like the way you're thinking.

The physical stalk controls?

Pulling back will not click it, it just springs back forward.
They probably mean disabling the hyperflash. What are the "dummy plugs" accomplishing in your envisioned usage?

Simply tricking the system into thinking a bulb is still plugged in. However knowing todays systems its probably more complicated than that; it probably is looking to see resistance/draw when power is sent.

In morning I am just going to unplug them and see what the system does.

Okay - look at the "hyperblink" or other headlight settings in the forscan wiki. Those are designed to trick the system into thinking a headlight is plugged in (because some LEDs do not offer enough resistance). I think that would work for your purposes.

That's not the point.

The point is merely the legality of it.
Technically almost any modification outside of factory specifications is illegal in some way in all 50 states.

Exhaust, lift, level, wheels not covered 100% by a fender, etc etc. You name it.

Oh you have switch panels for your lights? Distracted driving right there.

Talking on your radio via hand-held mic? Hands-free violation.

Chase rack with a spare tire mount? Obstructed rear-window.

Hell 99.9% of people don't use turn signals correctly (me included). Have you ever taken the time to see how turn signals are supposed to be used?

You violate traffic law every day, I promise you.

The list goes on.

Well my line of thinking is my hi-beams are now useless (for lack of a better term) and the most cost effective biggest powerful fog light you can create... would be your headlights!

For sure.

Although angle of the high beam might be an issue.

Is it possible to tint the highbeam bulb or lense?

Why would the angle matter? Inclement conditions, flood the way forward with amber light?

I had considered making an acrylic tube to mount to the led, then cover it with lamin-x for that nice deep amber. However, I don't think it would last and would melt. Unlike covering an actual lens, no air flow. I do not want to tint my entire headlight housing.

Was just thinking about how highbeams generally suck in the fog due to pointing at the fog instead of the ground. Amber would help of course, but not sure if enough.

They make amber fog light led bulbs, right? Howabout an adaptor from the highbeam style plug to the fog light style plug?

Seems complicated. Why not just put your aux beams on a switch or have them activate with your high beams.
