After work had to go with my Ranger to my next work place at car center. Before leaving needed to access the bed and found out my electric bed cover was totally frozen and not moving at all. Tailgate was also frozen. Nice.

That sounds icky... The frozen everything bit. LOL

Real world though, how does one prevent, or at least slow down, some of these items from freezing? (besides living in a warmer climate)

Stuff freezes here too. Have to make sure no ice builds up on the rims when the snow freezes so when you park you have to remove the snow. Imbalance of ice on the rims shakes your teeth fillings out.

I prefer warmer climate ?
Got both open finally. Not much ice, but seems like snow melts or water drips and freezes to ice there behind cab where cover rolls in.
How to prevent? Park nose up and clean every snowflake before sun melts it?
Don’t know yet, but I’ll find some solution fore sure.

Drove the XLT to work.........drove 'er to the gun shop...........drove 'er home..........changed the oil, filter and rotated the tires.......cleaned the new Glock.........sat down had a chup of choffee.........wifee has supper in the oven! Been a full day!
