New Ranger, Poor Mileage so far...

Oh goodness yes! I open it at every opportunity except during rain and extreme temps, then I use the 'vent' position.

Nearly every 4 wheel vehicle we've owned beginning with our first new car, a 1985 Chrysler LeBaron GTS (pop up) has had a moonroof.

We had a pop up moonroof installed in our first Ranger (1988 XLT standard cab 2wd). Our 2001 and 2006 Ranger SuperCabs with the suicide doors wouldn't accept moonroofs.

We were told originally the 5g Ranger wouldn't accept a moonroof but that turned out to be a load of crap. Signature and Hollandia both make moonroofs for the Super CrewCab.

The 5g SuperCab may be another story.

After plug in diagnostic review. Little update after trip to dealer. 2 sensors replaced, program reworked/rebooted/tweaked, Basically Was getting some misreadings. Admit From era of mechanical fuel settings. From long trips

Depending on highway speeds, fuel mileage does suck. 65mph 17mpg, 75mph 15mpg, anything above that 13mpg. Just got back from 1,700 mile trip, just interstate speed limits. Tremor has 4,000 miles on it. Got a good dealer, visiting about service/recall on a F350 I got, asked about My Ranger, said to bring in and they would check the tuning/settings. Said they have had a couple not tuned correct from factory. Should be doing at least 20-23 mpg. Usually after tune/adjustment can get 5 mpg better.

Update. Couple sensors and reboot/reprogram/tweak. went from 13-17 to 18-26 depending on driving conditions, yet usually in 22-24 range last 400 miles. Basically program getting misreads, running rpm’s bit high, kicking in turbo and not disengaging at optimum. Just figured mileage sucked, yet had in casual conversation with dealer, about servicing another of my vehicles, took time to “check out” my issue, since it’s been known to occur. Admit come from an era of mechanical adjustments carbs, fuel pumps etc.

I’ve got super cab with lt hankooks. mechanically stock with just a bedliner and hard folding cover. When I lived in a more suburban area and commuting via highway I was averaging 20-23 at 70mph. Since moving to a rural area where speed on highway is 75mph, I usually sit around 20 average between country and highway. unless just doing country roads, which us around 26-28mpg. I’ve learned anything above 75mph, mileage takes a big hit it seems. If I’m doing 80mph, I’m lucky to see 20.

Finally did a proper road trip. A bit late for leaf peeping but a beautiful day to drive through the White Mountain National Forest and pass by Mount Washington.

Kept my eye out for a certain forum member's Ranger while driving through Gilead, Bethel, West Paris, Norway, Oxford, and Poland Maine.

AND ... finally got great gas mileage.

Started out on 93 octane after the latest SYNC update and with just over a thousand miles on the truck. We averaged about 49 miles per hour with some stretches hitting the upper 70s. The hilliness isn't too bad but we did cross the Appalachian Trail and go through a few notches.

At just over a half a tank, I topped off with 91 octane and am happy to finally see decent mileage.

I'm sure this isn't accurate but considering the system was showing me 16.4 mpg at times, I'm happy to see it read higher. Lots of cruise control (not adaptive in Soupie) and light on the gas pedal.

And I didn't forget Soupie's dump roots!

I had about a third of a bed's worth of leaf mulch. I should of opened up the tonneau and shared this lovely mulch! =p

Kate, Cheech, and I found the long ride time to be comfortable (although Cheech was getting stir crazy toward the end, especially when I missed our exit home and had to do another 20 minutes to get back!).

I'm sure the graphene must have helped with that MPG! =p

Drumroll ... 28.1 MPG!

Just did a 200 mile stretch from eastern Washington, across the Idaho panhandle into Montana. Included 2 mountain passes. Speeds between 60 and 80. Averaged 25 mpg on 87 octane. Stock 2019 SuperCab Lariat with bed topper.
