David, I'm guessing 90% of those miles are dump runs? You have to venture out beyond the dump and you'll see much better mpg. ?
LOL, I do want to do a road trip! But life keeps getting in the way.

Two weekends back we were gonna go do some leaf peeping but something came up. Now leaf season is pretty much over here.

You're not far off with the dump estimate!

I actually wonder home many miles are from just shuffling in and out of the driveway! Those 30-yard trips add up! And they must kill MPG!

And thank goodness for the CTEK you told me about! That's the only way the battery ever gets a full charge.

Oh, I take that back, we do use the truck every six weeks for Cheech's mani-pedi! Woohoo, that's about a 25-mile round trip!

Perhaps Ford put code in the computer like VW did for the diesels that only gives the EPA mpg when the computer senses it's being tested.
Some smart guy might be able to fool it, but would he like the performance if he did?

I live in the Texas Panhandle.....flat as a pancake
My father's family is from Shamrock, TX. Small town, a number of people with the same last name are buried there.

Always thought he was from either Oklahoma or the Dallas area. Found out after my retirement he was from Shamrock after getting copies of his death certificate and my birth certificate.

Drove through Shamrock a time or two in the past and didn't even realize I was connected through lineage.

Have 600 miles on my Ranger....One tank fill so far, but I'm barely squeezing out 17MPG. I'm driving normal to conservative and was expecting much better gas mileage. Some of you are getting well over 20-22 MPG so I'm scratching my head here.
Better days are coming. I have kept a spreadsheet of my fuel usage since day one. My stats: 2019 XLT, completely stock except for damper.
20,805 miles, 75% city driving, Ave Mpg: 23.48, gallons used: 885.98, Ave cost: $2.74@gal.

Not sure if I missed it, but this thing drinks gas when it's firing up from cold. Doing a lot of short trips that let it cool all the way off results in some horrific mileage. I don't sit and idle for a long time either. Tach drops or temp gauge ticks up and I am moving (just no boost until it's actually warm)

I am getting 22 to 23 with mixed driving. The tune helped.

Except for the first tank after the tune I got 17 for some reason... Same roads. No idea why that was... Nope.

I average between 23-26mpg -XL, 2WD, I run nothing but Shell 93 Octane, and use full syn oil. Mostly highway and suburban driving - all stock except for dealer installed Ford deflection screen on hood. I calculate with gallons used vs miles driven at fill-up on the calcumalator and the use of the trip MPG estimator - they aren't that far off from each other for me. I drive fairly conservatively (unless there is orc mischief...)

First few months, mine was running 18-20 mpg
Since then unless its city driving I average 25. City 23. Whats weird is when I get back to highway driving which is what I do to back and forth with work, its real hard to "regain" mileage.
Mods will have an effect I'm sure. I put a diamondbak lid on mine. I know a bed cover is about as debated as a cold air intake or catch can. I swear it has had to have helped somewhat.
One thing I know is the "hippie" switch made no difference on or off. I'm sure its more of a feel good thing. Truck is off for 30 seconds at the red light.
Biggest thing I can say is drive normal, I run maybe 5 over the limit.
Also run plain ole 87.

I'm not sure about the claims of 20 MPG in city driving I've never gotten better than 17 in town and on the road the best I have gotten was 26 MPG
The EPA ratings are based off a very specific driving cycle. With the city your mileage can vary from 0 mpg on up, all depends on how much time you sit stopped and idling verse actually moving.

FWIW, I have never owned a vehicle that I couldn't beat the EPA ratings and that includes the Ranger.

I have pegged 32 mpg for an instant average on trips according to the trip computer. Don't recall my last trip average, but my normal averages at fill up time are always around 21.8 or so MPG - mostly urban with some rural highway always thrown in. That's using 93 E0 and the FRPP tune.

Oh goodness yes! I open it at every opportunity except during rain and extreme temps, then I use the 'vent' position.

Nearly every 4 wheel vehicle we've owned beginning with our first new car, a 1985 Chrysler LeBaron GTS (pop up) has had a moonroof.

We had a pop up moonroof installed in our first Ranger (1988 XLT standard cab 2wd). Our 2001 and 2006 Ranger SuperCabs with the suicide doors wouldn't accept moonroofs.

We were told originally the 5g Ranger wouldn't accept a moonroof but that turned out to be a load of crap. Signature and Hollandia both make moonroofs for the Super CrewCab.

The 5g SuperCab may be another story.
