I’m at 22 months old, with 19K. When I turn the key, “nothing“, then it starts. It takes a few seconds, but spins over normally when it actually kicks in.

Yes u could need a new battery, Especially living in FL about 2 -3 years is all you'll get. Its under warranty have Ford dealer test it and shoot for a replacement.

Never heard of a battery needing warm up time, then working as normal. There are multiple other possible causes, sticking solenoid, bad relay, bad starter,, etc.

You might need one. Have someone load test it to be sure.

The dealership tested the truck today and found no issues.

They said the exact same thing to me. I questioned why the auto/stop start wasn't working and why I received the dreaded low battery screen. They changed their story and replaced the battery. I immediately took it for a 40 mile drive and the ASS still wasn't working so I took it back immediately. The dealer said it had an EVAP code that was denying the ASS from working. It works now but I'm not 100% believing the dealers response after they flip-flopped on their original battery diagnostic.
FTR I detailed this interaction in a dealer customer service questionaire. They called back immediately to answer any other questions.

This isn't the first low battery thread on the forum. I'm hoping Ford Engineering gets this sorted out pronto.

Hi Left,

Not sure it is Engineering....first step is Supplier Quality Assurance. If it is a battery sizing issue...yep Engineering....Seems there is a quality issue with the supplier..who ever that is...Not sure but there are really only three battery makers here in North America.

Thank you for the information.

BTW didn't you post a Ford document that concerned battery connections for battery chargers. I've looked around a bit and haven't found it.

When in doubt, fully charge the battery (top off with a 'smart charger', disconnect battery completely, negative first (reconnect negative last). With our batteries, you will need a 1,000A Load Tester.

Then go from there.

Don't come on here complaining a dealer/shop replaced 14 items 14 times and you still have the same issue....

I'm on a number of Chrysler boards and dealt with another one this morning. What is the definition of insanity....

Mine does the same. Just posted about being on my third battery in another thread.

The only time it doesn't do it is when I had just unplugged the battery tender prior to starting. Something is up with these trucks' batteries or charging systems.

Edit: Woops didn't know it was an old thread.

That's fine as it's a relevant topic, as you just confirmed.
