Tank and rear fender will be done the same, healthy flake base with however many coats of candy it takes to get to that shade of brown. No pinstriping or anything fancy.. well leave that for my 2nd time painting a bike lol.
It's cheap enough to do annually so mabey I'll get some actual painting stuff and try again before riding season next year.

I thought about having my bike repainted. I beat on it an ride it hard, it's usually dirty. Not the typical candidate for a custom paint job. My cousin an his kid paint an do good work. I thought about stripping the street glide down an having it painted over the winter. I wanted House of Kolor candy apple root beer or or tangerine. I did the math on the price of all the materials an with a huge discount on cost of painting, me doing disassembly/reassembly it wasn't too bad but I was afraid I'd be afraid to ride the bike for fun like I do now.

Real bummer of a day for my savage project.
I started to lay down the candy on my tank, and it was just an absolute disaster. By the time I had the candy nice and even the gold flake was too buried to really shine through.
One side of the tank was AWESOME.. exactly what I wanted.. the top and the other side were hot garbage though unfortunately.
Being this close to the end of riding season and really wanting to ride the damn thing made me say f*ck it.. so I sprayed a can of rustoleum gold glitter paint on it and I'm just gonna clear over the top of that. The brown still slightly shows through which is cool.. and it'll still be plenty shiny! But... this is kinda why I don't do projects like this ? tons and tons of buildup and a big let down at the end.
Chaulking it up as a learning experience at least.
Infinitely more flake in a can of the rustoleum glitter paint than there is in a can from KustomCans paint BTW... it's not quite the same color... but close enough in the shine department.

It is what it is I suppose. Inevitably, money and time are going to get 'wasted' while learning something new.
But God damn man, we gotta get these things back together and ride them! Cmon!
