Project paintjob is coming along decently.

Got some rustoleum bright coat laid down today on the tank and fender as a base for my gold flake ?

I really need to set up some sort of paint booth before I start spraying the candy and the clear.. I'm a guy built for projects that require a BFH.. not detail projects like painting.. id be pissed if I ended up with dust or a fly in the important coats lol.

Sigh no more ridding for me… kazuma has had an issue with its timing chain so we found out it was the adjuster was jammed and fixed that so it was running great for awhile and went out and did some single track and had fun but on the way back it started running really bad and started stalling at stop lights… we’ll eventually it stalled at a light and I went to turn it on and it failed and now it won’t start… it just spins so I’m thinking either the timing chain flew off or broke or something in the bottom end was the main problem but my bike is dead for awhile so there goes what I love to do on the weekends for a break.. can 2022 be over? Not much has gone right this year…

forgot to mention that this bike is now dead for awhile...

i tore the bike down and found the problem.. the primary nut on the crankshaft came loose (common problem) and let the outer sprocket walk away pulling away the woodruff key.... when this happens the cam chain sprocket will shear the woodruff key and then the bike will go out of time and the piston will then smash into the valves... so the bike needs a full rebuild now... when i get the chance later ill post the pics of it with the damage and such

Thanks! It's thanks to a crappy picture though haha.

The paint wants to be put on much thinner than I had started to put it on lol, so there's a few dribbles on the tank I gotta flatten and touch up.. and the fender is pretty dusty..

No big deal though, and not bad considering my patience and conditions. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish up this stage of things.

gotcha if its bad you can always sand down a bit and paint again and fix it so no biggie

Ordered 3 more cans, another for the tank and 2 for the fender. Hopefully that has me satisfied because I'm really ready to finish this stupid project up and ride the damn thing a bunch before its cold again ? ?

I got my can of flake sprayed on the tank today. The flakes are a lot smaller than I expected, which is a bummer.. I want pretty much full coverage with flake.

Ordered 3 more cans, another for the tank and 2 for the fender. Hopefully that has me satisfied because I'm really ready to finish this stupid project up and ride the damn thing a bunch before its cold again ? ?

Looks good from here - make the best of it and enjoy the ride!!!! Don't be overly critical....

tank looks good to me tbh has just enough flake to make it pop without it looking overkill

Calling me a perfectionist would probably send a person to hell lol, but its just not enough flake for me. I'll spray on those few more cans I have coming and call it good for this one. I have no experience with putting candy over flake so I have no idea of what the final product will look like.. this is all a learning experience for me.

Next flake job I do I'll buy a gun and ditch the spray cans so I can utilize giant ass flake lol.
