That is also important, I am fairly certain its auto disabled when you are in 4 hi but its good to hit the button anyway but even if its on you should really try not to stop when you are in water if at all possible, also quick word of advice send the taco through stuff first his truck is less valuable than yours lol!
Funny this guy has tons of experience with past vehicles jeeps etc.. now he’s driving a taco limited ????? he’s so jealous of the tremor.. made me go first up in Sedona and all I could hear behind me were tires squealing up the red rock.. and his hitch dragging.. lol. Of course the tremor just walked right up and down everything no issues what so ever

He has all the recovery gear, I’m still licking my wounds on this tremor purchase but I did get my built industries Molle panels in, so I can start loading her up! My first time out to the verde river another Taco buddy of ours got stuck.. we had a few jeeps and some other Toyotas with us but no one had a snatch block.. it was comical trying to retrieve this taco off the hill… guys had the traction boards upside guys with the winches never used them etc.. ??‍♂
The guy that got stuck was new as well was going up and started to lose traction.. got nervous and backed down to make the turn up and got his spare tire stuck on a hill.. that episode took an hour and half…. ?
This has been a good learning experience as I previously had 0 experience off road but am loving the learning process… most everyone on this forum have really helpful..
I’ve now done soft sand, rock crawling (kinda) waiting for the monsoons to hit them I’ll mud them the dunes in the fall at Glamis Dunes…
Sorry for the long post

Will do I’m soo new to off-roading but have been trying different things few weeks ago I got to experience sandy trails near a river here in arizona.. I thought that was cool.. but then! Yeasterday we did broken arrow trail and soldiers pass in Sedona… man the was really cool.. so with the monsoons coming here I thought I’d try some mudding!
Here’s a couple pics from Sedona.. I get I pushed it a little harder this time!

This looks like offroading in an AZ riverbed! (As you probly know, we call a long stretch of low lying rocks a "river" here.) Sometimes the rocks get moist from drizzle, other times they flood like an explosion. Sometimes run for a few days even. I did Schnebly hill road a month ago with my slight lifter Fx4, pulling my light overlanding trailer. Very slow goin and taxed the suspension. Enjoy your truck and AZ scenery.

I went mudding in February and ended up burying the truck up to the bottom of the doors for a few hours. I've ridden the trail before, but the bottom of this pit had been turned into sludge by the rainy season. My brother got stuck pulling me out and we had to wait for a while. The differentials and alternator are fine. Buuut...

Since then I have had to do the following:
- gutted and dried the interior carpet. Took 1 week in the Florida sun to dry completely.
- New engine after piston ring failure. Happened ~ 1 month after.
- new AC compressor. Clutch pulley was screaming and the pump itself was lugging the engine.
- New relays. Resolved a few no start issues.
- Turbo repairs. Started whistling loudly under load a few weeks ago.
- Cleaned and regreased all under carriage electrical connections. CRC contact cleaner and a bit of dielectric grease got everything clean and water resistant.
- No 4WD, currently being diagnosed.

Here's the only pic I got. Brother's Jeep is stuck resting on its axles, no solid ground beneath his tires and my Ranger is in the back stuck in the actual mud hole.

This is all being covered under warranty. I don't attribute any of this to vehicle design and I don't think the vehicle is ruined. It just needs some repairs to deal with the hell I put it through. I had 47k problem free miles off roading all over the country before this fuck up.

Moral of the story: only drive through shallow puddles with rocky bottoms unless you're in a purpose built mud bogger.
Thanks for the post…. Holy cow! I can even imagine getting stuck like that! We do t have those marshy bogs here in Arizona but this is flash flood season for us…. I’ll make sure I know what I’m getting into and good luck with the rest of your repairs!
