I just got my 2022 Ranger Lariat Tremor. I have just under 1000miles on it. And I’m curious to know is 20-21mpg avg the best I should expect? I drive like an old man and set cruise control at 60-65mph hiway. I knew the the EPA had rated at 19avg. But I’m always able to best there numbers by 3-4mpg. But this truck is rough. But I’ve read as the engine breaks in I might get some better mpg!?!? Any feedback from longer time owners would be great.

Thanks for your reply. I only run regular. And live in Florida so not too many hills! But damn this thing is great to drive. But the mileage sucks. I must admit, I traded a 2018 Fusion Platinum Energi for this. And that car was a 42-45mpg car not including any full electric on the average. So I might be just dealing with fuel mileage remorse. Here in Gainesville fuel is anywhere from 4.17-4.60/gal. 6.50/gal is brutal.

Yep it is considered normal for that truck. Main reason is due to the suspension and tires. The tires on the truck are heavy(even though its a load range C). A lighter tire will.make a huge difference. If you feel like going said route there are some tumes out there lile the Livernois Tow Tune that will also help with MPG a bit. It's your call from here.

It’s still better mpg than most trucks on the road. That is what you should compare it to, rather than a sedan. I think most people that are used to driving cars will complain about the mpg, but most that are used to driving trucks love the mpgs ?. My 92 xj gets 16 mpg… my ranger’s 21-22 mpg is a huge step up

Not sure about mpg prior to using 93 grade but with 93 grade it usually gets 25-26 mpg. Granted the 93 was used with the FP tune. That's on flat grade easy on throttle or mainly using cruise control. Was thinking about tuning back to stock with 87 grade but prob would lose the mpg's.

I'm stock and only run 87. I get 25mpg on flatter drives. Just a thought to save on 93 octane.

I have the same size tires and lift as a Tremor and average 21 mixed driving which I think is pretty darn good for a very off road capable truck that still has excellent on road manners.

For the record I was getting 23 mixed on the stock fx4 suspension and tires. Lighter tires (at/m) would make huge difference if you are willing to trade off the benefit of C rated tires off road.
An EV is in my future at some point....but I will be keeping my Ranger long term.?

Oh I feel ya brotha! Honestly I only drive my Tremot on the weekends… it replaced my 2019 Mustang that just sat in the garage.. I drive around all day for a living so I use a Prius that I bought off a buddy for a grand..that damn thing gets 50 mpg and only used to take $25 to fill up.. let’s go Brandon is right! Got my money back on the mustang because the car shortage and finally got something I can take to the lake…

FWIW, I have a 21 Lariat Tremor with 15k miles that I get 23 to 24 mpg in my round town driving. Sometimes it will be 24.x and once in awhile it will drop to 22.x mpg. On the hiway at a constant 70 mph I get 24 to 25 mpg.

When I first got the truck I had the Ford Performance tune and ran 93 octane. When 93 topped $4/gal I took the FP tune off and went with an 87 octane tune. The change in octane had no impact on my mileage it is 23 to 24 on either. Octane has never had an impact on mileage in any vehicle I have ever owned.

Having owned one 2.0 Ecoboost and three 2.3 Ecoboost vehicles they all didn't hit their peak until about 6k miles.

2021 tremor here in hilly east Tennessee. Sounds like we drive about the same. Most of my trips are back roads for less than 15 miles and I average 20-21 mpg manually calculated. Had one interstate trip recently where I was traveling with traffic and had two stints of 110 mile runs and got just under 24 on that trip.

I think what you get will be greatly impacted by where you drive and how you drive (everyone's definition of driving like a grandpa is different.. ).

Around town, in my non-Tremor XLT FX4, I get about 21 MPG if I am driving super easy and paying attention. I would expect to lose about 2 MPG for the same driving if I was driving a Tremor with the bigger tires.

On the freeway, I average about 24.5 (pretty hilly where I drive, even on the freeway), but only if I drive under 70 (like 65MPG cruise control). If I am driving at 80, it drops down to under 22MPG.
