Hey Everyone, I'm new to this group and hoping to get some help. I have a 2019 Ranger XLT and I'm having hesitation problems with it. It typically does it when I'm at a constant speed, which usually stops doing it when over 55mph. It sometimes does it when I initially step on the gas too or when I go over speed humps it will take a second to engage after stepping back on the gas pedal. I've replaced the air filter, tried gas treatment, had the spark plugs changed, and the last thing I've done is changed out the gas pedal with the sensor on the top of it. I have other ideas, but I want to see if I'm just grasping at straws here. The other ideas I've had are the fuel filter, fuel pump, or the throttle body. Let me know what you think.

If you don't have a check engine light then I would suspect carbon build up on the intake valves. How many miles are on it?

have you had the truck awhile? the problem is new?
or is it new to you and you notice the unique hesitation? this info could help

the 10 speed gearbox and the turbo can give you feelings of hesitation by their design, but there isnt enough info to determine if thats what youre feeling.

have you driven it in S mode yet?
if you havent, try it and note the difference

I bought the truck new, and I started noticing this issue about a month ago. It has progressively gotten worse since then. I haven't tried it in S mode yet, but I can try that on the way to work this afternoon.

May be due for spark plug replacement. Since those are wear items and you note it has gotten worse over time, could be it. I know the first generation 3.5 ecoboost was hard on spark plugs, but I haven't heard as much on the 2.3 ecoboost.

LOL...welcome to my world. Have to slow myself down all the time for the same reasons. I miss stuff if I don't.

Fuel filter is the sock in the fuel tank. I know my sct tuning software logging tool will let me log both the low pressure pump in the fuel tank and the high pressure pump on the engine. I don't know if common obdii code reader will display that.

What interval to you change your oil? 5K oil changes usually don't have problems with carbon. But i've seen a lot of Fords that follow the 10K oil change interval start to have carbon build up at around 60-80K. Starts out as hesitation and eventually a misfire. If you don't find any other issues it might be worth running a scope down the throttle body to take a look.

One other thought for fuel possibility. Historically fords have had a pid you could log for fuel pump duty cycle. We used that in the tuning world to know when we needed bigger fuel pumps. If there is a duty cycle on the low and high pressure pumps, you could use those to potentially evaluate fuel filter condition in tank. If low pressure pump in tank was maxed at 100% duty cycle, you could assume the filter was clogged due to some bad gas at some point.

Is it a hesitation or is it surging at all? The reason I ask is many had a similar problem and fixed it and you can read through this thread here to see if it's similar to yours.

Thanks for this link to previous owners with the same issue. It sounds like I have the same issue as the people in the thread you posted, so I just ordered the part they said fixed it. I'll keep you guys posted on how it turns out.

Hopefully this works out for you and it's a cheap fix if it does. Just remember to message Benny @LevittownFordParts.com as he usually has discount codes for us members here. Good luck!!

I change at 5k, but I will keep this in mind if the other fix doesn't work.
