if Ford starts doing this, i would push hard to not have the system installed in the first place.
If I pay for that equipment in the vehicle up front, i expect to be able to use it at my discretion and no cost.

Its much like the satellite radio we get now.
I don't care for it, don't need it, but i end up paying for the module, and it just sits there now.

If they want to start nickle and diming the consumer then they better start allowing very specific order structure.

the aftermarket industry for add on heated seats will explode, and so will their pricing "because of supply and demand"
There are still plenty of sedans & hatchbacks to choose from, even though many mfr's have abandoned them. Ford is discontinuing the EcoSport in 2025 mostly because few entry level buyers wanted a crossover that small. A stroller won't fit in the back of one. Young families didn't flock to it and instead bought Civic hatchbacks or used Focus' (Foci?) or similar, seeing that there were no new ones.
Point being some mfr's will continue to have non subscribe accessories. And the aftermarket already has plenty of heat element kits that install under your seat fabric or covers that plug into your 12V or USB socket. I believe that virtually any subscription based feature that mfrs' come up with, will become available in the aftermarket or App Store/Google Play

The thread title is misleading, you can't rape the willing.

Most BMW drivers have it for perceived status, and paying an extra $18/month demonstrates they have money to burn = more status, lol.
10-4.
Q: Why on earth would you hire a lawyer for $700 an hour?

A: Because I can.

You'll rent your children next
Me first. I'm charging a 100$/day or $500/week fee. You're responsible for food, water, and maintenance. Of course a $100 refundable security deposit will be needed.

You said "rent out," right?!

This ^^

My grocery-getter has heated seats and that heat on the lower back feels great, even if it’s not cold enough to need the heater on. I can certainly see companies like Carhartt adding this option to their seat covers (maybe they already have it?).

Or maybe it’s time for a DeWalt heated vest. There are two things I like spending money on - my Ranger and DeWalt tools.

What? It’s possible to belong to two different cults at the same time!
catskinz or however you spell it has this as an option they can add heated and ventilated, and will wire them up and put the switches in the most weird spot, on the side by the controls for the seat so you try to cool your butt down after a long day of florida man stuff and you end up adjusting your lumbar instead lmao

lets not give them ideas...
Yeah I know but I'm sure they're already 2 steps ahead of us already. They'll just add a main module that controls all your plug ins like the 12v, USB and 110. Want to use them pay up.

As much as I love all the tech stuff in my Lariat I'll go back down to a Base model before giving them any more money to activate stuff that should be free. Then I'll add my own ports and wire them in like we use to have to do.

I'm likely going to always have an older vehicle around for just such nonsense, until it's banned as a Gross Polluter" anyway and they do me a favor and give me $20 to crush it.

Though with the current market prices, I am thinking of selling my Bronco.

Now THAT"S old tech.

It even has one of these blasts from the past...

Millennials are scratching their heads trying to figure out why there's a cigarette lighter mounted on the floor. ?
