I get about 20-23mpg average on shorter trips, I have 10 ply BFG tires in load range E. I get 8-10mpg towing a 6500# travel trailer, so something is up with yours or you have a really heavy foot.
driving a turbo vehicle is a “different” experience. You have to try and stay out of boost when accelerating normally, if you find yourself stabbing into the throttle and then backing off, try to ease into it slower and stop before you overshoot your target. Wait that extra 1/4 second for the boost to hit and that should really help your mileage.
