Thanks Fig! Thanks for the tip but I always do. Got in this habit at a young age when riding street bikes because no one ever sees you until its to late. Now I'm always aware of what's around me unlike my gf who has tunnel vision when driving.

Plus I always have my friend Sig close by.

I'm not referring to just road rage. Sure, someone may cut you off or may not be paying attention to what they are doing. That or falling asleep. If someone wants to pass, let them go. If he's speeding, you'll notice him later down the road with a cop behind him. I see that all the time.

Also, the bigger your mirrors are, the easier for vehicles to hide behind. Especially motorcycles. Even though this Ranger has BLIS, you still have to pay attention to your surroundings.

Then there's that overloaded pickup. Something is bound to fall off. Or someone pulling a trailer that's heavy with to many items. An old vehicle with unbalanced tires. ETC

Then there's the slow down. It could be construction, an accident, slow oversized vehicle, ETC. You need an escape plan in case the guy behind you is still going highway speed. Don't get close to the vehicle in front. Stay back and watch the car coming behind you if your the last vehicle in line. Turn your 4 ways on. If he's not slowing down, use the escape to the shoulder. And use your horn.

Yup all the same stuff I learned to do when riding street bikes. Never pull to close to the vehicle in front and always check your mirrors. There was a pack of bikes that came out of nowhere on a long open stretch through UT, it's easy to get complacent when there's nothing but desert for miles and miles, I'm a very defensive driver. Thanks for the tips though. :like:

Thanks Greg! When we started planning this the gas prices were only in the upper $2.00 range. But it is what it is and I'm not going to let it spoil our fun. We've both worked to hard to NOT enjoy life and we've been blessed to be able to have this opportunity to do this. This doesn't mean I won't be upset once I'm back home and add them all up. lol :curse:
Just remember the reason you are getting such good mileage is because higher price gas is better gas.:inspect:

There's something called the Smith System for truck drivers. Every possible scenario is laid out.

Quick stop in Flagstaff to top off the tank and my stomach. Lol One of our favorite places is MartAnne’s where you still get huge portions

One thing I always loved about living here is you can go from the cactus in the desert to the fresh mountain air in Flagstaff in about 2 hours. At 7,000’ it’s only 67 degrees now, 20 degrees cooler than the valley. ?

Looks like a great trip is ahead. Arizona is on my list of places to retire to. My wife's not sold yet...thinks it will be too hot. I told her it's a dry heat.:fingerscrossed:
All I know is that I'm tired of New England winters and want to retire in a warm climate.

Safe travels and enjoy!

Thanks Mark! It is a dry heat for the most part, July and August get more humid but not as humid as New England. I would recommend visiting in June it's the hottest and driest month and if you can handle that the rest should be easy. Most come here in March or October and fall in love with the weather and have a huge shock once summer hits. In August it will still be 106 at 10:00 pm, we don't get those cold fronts dropping down from Canada like back east. I too was tired of the MA winters and dreary days and this has really helped especially if you get SAD disorder because there's no lack of sunshine here. :sun::tumbleweed:

Well hell hillbilly, I thought the spice girls (tell me what you want what you really really want) would be funny as hell to see also Dave :giggle::giggle:
Sorry Dave
I considered that , but we all know what Dave really really wants , and him waving dampers and 303 around to the Spice Girls seemed like a big ask ? but I very much want to see it...

Damn. When I thought he was going on vacation, I thought it was from the forum too. I was anticipating the chaos that would ensue. People burning dampers and throwing 303 on the fire.
Here he is just moderating from a different location.
Who can disable his account while he is on vacation?

One thing I hate is that old habits never die, I'm still up very early whether I want to or not.

Oh, there'd be chaos alright!?
