Last week I almost got hit by a tornado and while I fled I took many hits from baseball size hail and I only have very minor dings and a busted corner of my windshield, the way it sounded as brook those hits driving away I expected much worse

Not long ago we had some tornados here as well. We got the quarter size hail at our home and it was making a hell of a sound on mine, but to my surprise there were no dents. Supposedly more coming tonight. I think it’s going to be an active spring for weather.

I live in south Ga so we don’t see many tornadoes but that’s the last time I ignore the weather man on that subject

Glad your're ok and the Ranger didn't get damaged all that bad. It just reminds you how powerful mother nature really is. We had a freak tornado come through MA back in 2011. It basically went all around my house and destroyed our downtown area.

I remember that one. Pretty surprising because we never really see them this far north

Once you truly understand what the potential forces are and that you don’t stand a chance against them you will definitely pay attention when they say “storm warnings”

That’s a fact I got all the reminder I’ll ever need from that

We have the potential for hail and tornados tonight. When I first moved to KS 6 years ago I was deathly afraid of tornados and would hide in the basement. Nowadays I must have gotten used to them and our family preparedness plan is to go outside and see if we can spot them.

Yup it's windy as all heck here in NM, and the future forecasts across the country are predicting a tornado outbreak, followed by a long stretch of severe weather across the region east of the Mississippi...

This is what happens when you get caught in a tornado. I knew these three gentlemen personally, and it was a shock to hear of their deaths. If you live in tornado alley, be prepared.

I remember this happening, and they should've never been that close to the wedge monster that they succumbed to. Heartbreaking moment in time.

I was surprised too. I had just got home from work and the sky turned a funky greenish color. The news was saying tornado warning but I didn't pay much attention to it. About an hour later a friend called and said his whole street ( I built my first house near him) was wiped out. o_O

He's only 1.5 miles from me and it had only rained a lilt at my house. I'm drive over the and everything looked fine until I turned the corner and everything was gone! You could see the path it took and hooked towards the center of Monson. I had to leave my truck and walk because there were trees and power lines down everywhere. The only thing that was left at his house was his garage, the rest was leveled. They were done in the basement in a small room that was under the front porch and if that wasn't there they would've been killed as the chimney fell into the main part of the basement. It looked like a war zone and I've never seen anything like it. Pictures and videos do it no justice until you see one first hand. His son was only around 11 at the time and had nightmares for years. IIRC it was 23 miles long and started in Westfield, MA all the way to Sturbridge, MA.

That's heavy Dave.

On the hail Vs Ranger front, mine has been belted by decent sized hail 4 times since new (6 months). A couple of them bad enough, that I took photos for the insurance that I was sure we'd be claiming on. The outcome? One tiny dint in the roof, I didn't even notice until the other day. To be honest, it may have even been caused by something else, for all I know.

I can tell you, that if my last Toyota (Hilux) or VW (Amarok) was in two of those hail storms, I'd be either getting a new car, or an awful lot of work done to them. Been there before.

I'm in western KY where some local to us areas just got it bad a few months ago. Everybody is freaked out. Several schools and jobs have been called off today. Supposed to get here around 8 pm. Best of luck to everyone in the line of these storms. ?
