How do you know. lol ?

Yes the Graphene needs to be sprayed onto the applicator but the detailer you can spray directly on the paint. Also make sure to shake it while using it as the Graphene can/will settle and you won't get the correct application. I like using these applicators as they're the perfect size and hold a good amount of product.

Ha. Spots everywhere. No problem if you follow the directions and spray the applicator.
Those look great, I’ll order some.

My Chemical Brothers microfiber applicators arrived while I was out in the garage organizing the detailing stuff and starting on the Mustang. Man, I hope I can get this car brilliant looking!

I got all of my detailing stuff unpacked and organized from the move to Florida, and set my cart back up. I had to actually clean up the cart and some of the bottles of product pretty good due to how my previous garage was. This garage is easiler to keep clean!

I started on the car a little today too. First, I removed some Mad Max (the original Mad Max movie) inspired Main Force Patrol Interceptor decals that were under the 5.0 emblems on the front fenders. It killed me to peel them off as I absolutely loved them. Unfortunately, they collect all the lint from microfiber towels and it didn't look so good. I used a spray from of Goo Gone to remove the adhesive followed immediately with Meguiar's Ultimate Detailer. Then I used 303 Multipurpose Cleaner on the wheels wells of the car to clean them up. And then the last thing I hit was the engine bay. I stared by blowing any dust out of the engine bay before using some Goo Gone on some adhesive that was on my fan shroud. I then wiped down anything I could reach in the engine bay with one of my favorite detailing products, ClearShine.

The 303 Graphene doesn't get in until Tuesday, unfortunately. The plan on Tuesday is to blow any dust on the car off with my wand hooked to the air compressor. Then, I will use a quick detailer to remove any left sitting on the surface. Next I'll use Meguiar's Ultimate Polish to correct the paint. It's not horrible, but it's showing signs of too many car show wipe-downs. After the polishing, I'll apply the 303 Graphene to hopefully seal that paint and have an awesome shine! I'll finish up by detailing the wheels and tires. Tuesday will be busy!

Yeah the shine is great with this stuff. That photo is from 12/14/21, that's when I reapplied it for the year. I do the Graphene once a year and then I just hit it with the Graphene Detailer every 4-5 weeks. They say it last up to 3 months (the detailer) but with the heat and UV rays here I like to hit mine more often as it adds a little more Graphene for protection. Gold Eagle is always have specials (free shipping or a % off) so you sign up for email alerts.

One more question, not sure if it's been answered, how far does a bottle go? Did you have any left over from the first application?

It goes a long way. You don't want to apply to much so I use a few sprays (4-5) on the applicator and reapply once it starts to drag. I've done my Ranger (5 times) 2 coats in 2020 and 3 coats in 2021 and my Jeep 3 coats and still have about 25% left in the bottle. What's really nice with the Graphene and the Detailer is you can hit everything from the body, glass, trim and headlights and it'll protect it.

When you apply it you really need to spread it out and not put a lot on, less is better. That's why the tell you to cross hatch it (apply it side to side then front to back) so you get good coverage without applying to much.

I've had the same results with bird poop on mine. Just a quick rinse and it comes right off and it doesn't seem to bake into the paint.

Ive had my 2022 Ranger now for about three weeks, and I have to park it outside under a live oak and a magnolia tree. Lots of leaves, pollen, and whitewing dove poop. I wanna try and
start off right protecting iI with the good stuff from the get go. Some questions:

  1. Somewhere on one of the detailing threads a post mentioned waiting until the paint cured and wasn’t off gassing. Is that a thing and if so, how long do I have to wait?
  2. since it’s still relatively new, do in need to do the clay bar step too or can I skip that?
  3. How does the graphene hold up against the soft touch car wash establishments? Theres a local chain that ive taken my other cars to that seems to be well reviewed. I hate the pollen dust but won’t have the time to hand wash all the time.
thx!

I would wait a few more weeks although factory applied painting process is different than a body shop. I would absolutely do the clay bar or synthetic clay mitt before applying. You will be surprised as what's on the paint from shipping and storage. The only car wash I will use are the toughness so I can't comment on that.

Yes it is ok to wax a new vehicle. Paint today and the whole paint process is much better than years ago and it dries much faster today.

I would do the baggie test. When you're washing take a sandwich bag and put it on your hand and rub each panel while there's soap on it. If it feels gritty you need to clay it, if it's smooth your good to go. Mine was really gritty when I first did it and some panels I had to go over multiple times. The key is to go slow and do not use any pressure and use a lot of lube. I use a speed detailer as lube.

Sorry I cant help you on this one as I always hand wash mine unless I can find a touches wash or a hand wand wash.

Should You Wax a New Car?

Absolutely. Decades ago most dealers advised that buyers wait about two or three months after purchasing a new car to begin waxing. However, this recommendation no longer applies. Up to around the 1980s, dealers would sell cars before their inner paint layers had finished drying and curing. This meant that waxing the vehicle too soon would risk ruining the paint job.

Nowadays a car’s paint layers are finished drying and curing before it leaves the factory due to advancements made in the assembly and painting process in recent decades, which means you can wax your new vehicle as soon as you want.

Break out your wallets, crack the piggybanks, and check the couch cushions, Gold Eagle is having a Spring promotion.

they let you spin a virtual prize wheel. I ended up getting 20% off and free shipping so I bought some detailer, a clay mitt, and some more microfiber towels.

Time to stock up on 303:
