Yep - hood struts are definitely on the list of purchases to be made. ?

I had an 06 Wrangler and I would just lay the hood all the way back on the windshield. So not having struts on it didn’t bother me as much. ?‍♀
That is a nice feature. I put dual cowl lights on mine and can't do that without trashing the hood. ?

The thing is that they had to spend money to redesign the plastic panel between the grille and radiator to make a slot for the rod, but the hardware is still left in place for the struts. It's quite a bizarre design choice especially this late in the product cycle, but I suppose it saves a few bucks per vehicle and still allows owners an easy way to upgrade. I won't mess with the struts on my 2022 because the few times I open the hood to check the oil or fill the washer fluid the prop rod is fine... It just screams "cheap" though... Like 1980 Fairmont cheap.
I'm sure the bean counters had this figured out to the penny and in the long run it's saving them money. Bet they carry this forward into the new R6G too. Pretty soon the passengers seat will be an extra!:facepalm:

I didn't add them to my Jeep either, I'm not under the hood enough to worry about it.

Yes the North American 6G will most likely have a prop rod and will probably be decontented vs the ROW version. Things like all digital gauges across the entire line is something I'm just not seeing for the XL and XLT in NA.

The more I think about it however it sort of makes sense. The 2019 Ranger really was just a slightly reengineered, restyled and re-powered T6 from the rest of the world. Everywhere else the Ranger is the flagship pickup in Ford's line. A lot of those little features like hood struts, rear touch unlock, folding headrest, key on tailgate, aluminum panels, etc. make the F-150 the flagship it is. Now they are removing those features in our market because it's not a flagship product here like it is in the ROW. People would notice that stuff a lot more on F-Series than Ranger so it's one way to cut costs and not get noticed as much.

I created a table to keep the eliminated features all in one place. Seems cost cutting grew as the model years went on to the dismay of owners, while the bean counters are now happier.

Paul, that's a really nice spreadsheet and I added it to the first page.

Nice work on the table. For features added even though it's optional across the line the securicode keypad is color-keyed for 2022. We are beating up Ford pretty bad here so at least we should give them a little credit for adding something.

The list has really grown. Now I'm not sure this was a good idea because we can all now see what's been deleted all in one line. It might have been better having 300 threads of unorganized posts. lol :frown:
In that case maybe you can act like Ford manufacturing a 2022 Ranger and delete this thread. :p

lol That might be a good idea seeing how long this list is. But then I'll have to keep merging all the new threads when they come up and that's a lot of work. :D

Thanks! I was shocked to see the number of things that were "cost reduced". I really believe these things should be added as improvement and not eliminated over time.

Thanks! Not much in the plus column for adding, so I think you're right...

I'm thinking the front fenders must have switched to cheaper steel sometime around mid 2021. What month and year was yours built?
Mine are steel and the truck was built 8/24/21

Does Ford still split a model year between Job #1 and Job #2? It's possible steel was used through out 2021, however I think a few people commented early 2021s could be still aluminum.

It may have been a running change on the assembly line...Use aluminum until you run out, then proceed with steel.
