Yeah good luck getting most of the parts guys. I wouldnt be suprised that after insurance confirms the total there will be very little I can take from the truck(I already have a small list of what I will have to remove)

I think most of these are only joking. I know mine was. Happy to see you're in one piece and hope to see you in a Ranger again soon.

Glad you're OK. Sorry about the truck. But on the bright side, you have plenty of time to start saving for the Ranger Raptor!

Well do to some unfortunate events I lost my Ranger. Sunday I decided to go out on a trail and on the way back home I ended up running into a cow(yep, I killed Bessie).

With the damage to the front end I am certain she is totaled....... Lets face it, we have seen Rangers with less damage get totaled.....

The weirdest thing that gets me is with all that damage none of the Airbags went off!! To say the least i already got ahold of Ford to let them know!! Who knows what will become of that...

What is my plan? Well as much as I would love for you guys to just pitch in and buy me another Ranger(I have a better chance of winning the lottery) I am most likely going to find a cheap truck(yes they still exist) and get some much needed debt paid off until I can get myself another Ranger(probably the new body coming up).

Will I be leaving the Forum? I dont think so as I still find it nice to be able to give others helpful information.

Well there you have it folks!!

boy! it looks bad but a cow could have done a lot worse even killed you. the truck held up pretty well considering. good you are still alive

cows are dense heavy and stout. i had one simply lean its ass to turn, not full weight, on the door of one of the farm trucks and it caved the door in and shattered the glass! hitting one square at speed could have been the end of road for chris.

bad humor, but since the animal was already dead did they at least get her to the butcher in time? a good steak or thick burger is likely including in the insurance claim.

I think the milk container exploded...it was at night...that makes sense now...
I've cleaned up more than my fair share of frozen/exploded milk containers at work.

Sooooo glad I didn't have to do that one!

So the Automatic Cow Avoidance (ACA) system did not activate!?!

Seriously, wonder why the AEB did not work? Started a thread a while back asking if anyone experienced this and nobody responded with an example.

I'm not convinced AEB actually works after seeing this story....

Bummer!

The way I understand it, as long as you put stock parts back on, they don't care. Glad you're ok. They should give you a higher value than kbb or nada, find a comparable used truck for sale at a dealer kinda close and you can make them pay the selling price, or buy you that truck.

Yikes! That is quite the dent. Glad you are well.

As for the cow . . .

I'm with Ranger_Rocks here. Did you get to keep any steak or a brisket on the way out? I mean if they cow caused you that much trouble you might as well...

Seriously, glad you're alright, but hate to hear bout the turn of events. That damage is intense! What a beefy cow you must have hit(no pun intended). Hope it died on impact, because I can't imagine the aftermath to it. How banged up did you get without the airbags?

I'm just happy you're able to tell the story Chris. Vehicles can be replaced, people not so much. Now with that said, are you sure Bessie didn't attack you? With that amount of damage I think you may have been set up by some Mad Cow society.

Glad you're going to hang around the forum. You're wit, and wisdom would be missed.

I was doing 50 MPH and the cow was standing in my lane as if it was crossing the road(or at least thinking about it)
I'm in CO too, and up in RMNP the free-range cows just stand in the f'n road even though they have all that land. I have to nudge them or let the doggo out every couple of miles when I'm out and about. They're not scared of a truck, but let a border collie out and they think the world is ending.

I don't go over 30 in those areas. Sorry about your truck.
