Swapped mine out a few months back. It certainly is a bit worse when it comes to signal strength on FM radio reception. But, I rarely use FM anyway.

Installed one a week ago, its perfectly fine while driving around my home. On road trips though it becomes noticeable that you lose reception much sooner than the OEM antenna. In Texas there is quite a bit of distance between major cities.

I kept the old antenna in the glove box, I'll probably just throw it on whenever we go on another road trip and then swap back to the stubby when we get back home.

So this past week my stock antenna has been catching on my garage door and I could not figure out for the life of me why this was happening all of a sudden. It's been super cold (below zero!) all week and I thought maybe the door wasn't going up all the way. left for work this morning and it was a balmy 18 degrees so no cold excuse and it caught like crazy as I backed out. As I was driving to work I finally figured it out! I added a lift on Monday! Good lord, I can't believe it took me 5 days to tie the two things together. I'm really losing it at 60! I will be ordering a stubby this morning!!. Still no damper though

It's easy to forget when we make little changes how it effects other things we do but I wouldn't consider 18 degrees balmy. lol?

We'll have to work on that last part. At 60 you're not going to have to worry about muscle atrophy much longer. ? :giggle:

Why did I know your reply would be first! You can't imagine how good 18 feels after it was -18 yesterday morning. That's +36 degrees! :sun: On the muscle atrophy I'm not sure why I don't just give up. Apparently it's happening to my brain already. Just hate to succumb so easily o_O

I get it with the difference in temps. It's the same here when it's 112+ out and it drops to 100 and you say it feels good. o_O People think you're crazy but it really does feel good.

I have a cap , roof rack, and stubby antenna on my truck. When I go kayaking I put the boat on the rack. Without the stubby the boat would have hit the antenna.

If I move to the desert upon retirement I can then say what you just said and make all the snow people up here jealous! Can't wait!

I've had 2 friends from back east call me this week. It's getting colder there and they're not getting any younger and the cold is starting to bother them more and more now. You'll love it out here and the dry heat does help if you have arthritis and sore joints. Plus 300+ days of sunshine is great for your spirit as I was depressed a lot back east with the dark and gloomy winters. :sun:
