Noticed I had a mouse in my 2020 cabin when I saw droppings on the dash a year or so ago. I got the mouse that day and didn’t think of it again.
Fast forward to today when I decided to change the air filter…welp, looks like I’ve been driving for 15,000 miles with this sucker in it. Looks like he made quite the home…Check your air box after signs of mice!

Checked mine the other day nothing but the dust that was supposed to be there, and a few small bugs that must have been sucked down the snorkel. Luck those little buggers didn't chew a hole in your filter, that wouldn't have been nice.

We live in kind of a rural area so we have always had outside cats.

They hate meeces to pieces.

The cat we have now is OK, but the one before him was a legend!

Wow I miss that cat!

My mother has a Cadillac that she doesn't drive a lot. Last year she calls, car won't start. My dad has basic tools and I keep a can of Quick Start in my truck anyway so I drive over. I poke around and don't see anything, it cranks okay but won't start. I open the airbox to spray some Quick Start and it was literally full of peanuts. I mean packed full.

No worries here it's to darn hot. My garage will be well over 110 in the summer and no mouse is dumb enough to climb into my air box in that heat. If they did they'd fry in minutes. Bet they taste like chicken? ?

I met a person in town here in north central. Washington and their 2020 crew cab was loaded with mice they are in the head liner in the rear seats etc. She got a estima Of $2900. To repair the damage.
When my new XLT FX4 arrives I’ll be screening the fresh air intake for cabin. Also have heard people swear Irish spring soap repels mice!

Yep we are the same. Current cat is pretty good, with many mice cleaned up this winter, the previous one however, wow, for 16 years he maintained an absolute 500 meter radius, rodent, reptile, and avian free zone around the house. Nothing was too big, or too mean, or too poisonous to be duly dispatched and brought upstairs for our viewing pleasure.

He had this bad habit of bringing brown snakes to the back door whenever I was doing an evening shift at work. My wife would ring me and say "Sammy's caught another snake"
I would say turn on the light ? is it brown ? is it still moving, if yes, wait until he kills it before going outside! (Eastern browns are the second most deadly snake in the world - they are part of the Cobra family)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_brown_snake

Funny thing though, was he was a big, fluffy, Himalayan, looked and acted just like a tame inside cat. In reality he loved the outside. Visitors would pat him, and go "what a beautiful kitty", I would say if only you knew, he's a f'n KILLER!

Just to check, Isn't that the engine filter for the intake manifold? I'm looking for the intake for the passenger compartment air filter...
If you're looking for the cabin air filter check out this video.

My daughter had a whistling sound in her 2020 explorer's ventilation system. Mice had destroyed the cabin filter an all the seals around the airbox. She's waiting on parts, total replacement is needed an it's $1,800. She made an insurance claim but has to pay about half of it.

There was a thread on here where a guy made a wire screen for the air box intake. She had outside cats but they left for someone feeding them better (I guess)
