Why the interior hate?

What about the garage door buttons being on the sun visor - every previous auto I've owned had them on the rear view mirror - is this a Ford thing ? It's an extra step when the visor is down.

This is a valid gripe.

It would have been very simple to mirror the buttons on the other side.


The HVAC though, I don't get. Yes it's not three knobs and a slider like it was for decades, but it's simple.

Seriously, how much do you people futz with the settings? I live where we get 4 seasons, sometimes all in one day. My temp is set, HVAC on auto. The thee or four buttons I might hit, def, max def, a/c, and max a/c, are all right next to the auto button whose led is lit. Very easy. Could be better, but not a high use area for me.

Also don't get the 60/40 complaint. Who cares how it splits to access a wall?

I don't have any issues with the interior, but I haven't owned a new car for a while. The last one was 2009, and my wifes is 2002, so they are/were both dated. I do think the plastics are sort of hard, but hear what people are saying about 'soft' interiors having their own issues.

I can deal with the smallish buttons on the dash, and I do think the right side lariat display is weak, but I don't stress over it.

I would like to be able to turn on the rear cam when towing, but I don't tow much so I'll deal with it.

I think it's the lack of lighting during the daytime. When I first got mine I couldn't see the up/down buttons for the fan during the day. I was constantly hitting every one but the one I needed. Then after messing around with the touch screen more I just use that now and never use others. At night it's obviously much easier to see as they're lit up but in the blaring sun here they're useless.

It would've been much better to have these in the rear view mirror and they'd probably have a better line of sight and longer distance that way.

Only complaint I have is that the buttons do not have backlighting for night time adjustments but once I get used to the placement it won't be an issue. Besides it is on the screen so it is whatever.

Yeah, the other complaint by some with the home link buttons in the visor, I don't care. Being in the mirror might be better, but I don't care. I guess my next task might be to figure out geofencing or whatever it's called to control 'stuff' based on smartphone locations, but I'm old, who knows if I'll ever play with that.

Love my truck, and the interior is comfortable. But like many others, I don't like the climate controls. I never use them because they're just too cumbersome. I don't like taking my eye off the road for as long as it takes me to find the control I want. The knob controls that Scrappy showed are much more user friendly. Another dislike is the poor amount of heat that comes into the footwell in the winter. If I use any heat for the defrost, I can't keep my feet warm. Something seems wrong with the system or ductwork.

There's a park right in front of my house that I come around to get home.

There's a birdhouse on a tall (10ftish) metal pole there in the park. I've found that if I hit my button while lined up with the pole between me and the door it quadruples the range. Apparently it's acting as a passive repeater? I don't know but it works.

The plastics could be a little nicer, but I think their biggest complaint is just that it’s a little dated. Look at the 2020 F150 xlt interior vs the new 2021 xlt. It’s night and day. The F150 xlt interior is in another league compared to Ranger lariat, but it shouldn’t be when the price of the two vehicles are not that far off from each other.
I’m guessing the 6gen ranger will be taking cues from the F150 updates and the bronco.

they are similar, but I've never been a fan of the big bezel around the touchscreen, nor the small buttons on the fan speed. The 302A package is nice though on the Ranger.

I’ve seen others comment on the bezel and, oddly, I’ve never paid much attention to it. I’ve never experienced the glare others speak about. There is nothing I would change about the interior-except maybe some brighter, more colorful lighting options for footwells, door handles, etc… ?

At least they integrated it into the dash so that doesn't look all that bad vertically. Some look like an afterthought like they stuck an iPad up there and it's sticks up above the dash. I can't wait to see the 6G Ranger!
