I saw part of that today. Mixed responses, but ultimately due to (pick all the variables involved) I believe demand for the Bronco made the system crash. It will take time to get back on track, but it is good to see a direction decided rather than pointed fingers. I get to continue to look forward to my order and when it gets built. Doesn't change my thoughts on Ford.

I think Ford could have gotten away with a bit more pre-Internet, but the Internet today and with Forums and such of enthusiasts, it is a tight rope and we get a more intimate look at manufacturing. Whether we understand them or not.

Glad I am getting one that is a year out. Mama always said, "never buy the first year".

- Not sure if the pull out tailgate will really be an accessory or factory option.

I've had problems in the past with first year runs from trucks, motorcycles and snowmobiles. With a totally new vehicle I wasn't going to take any chances and was happy (but impatient) to wait until '22.

The pull out tailgate is an accessory only available on the 4dr models.

I'm hoping things will smooth out for the auto makers soon. But, it does seem it's going to go on forever. An old friend is the owner of our local GM dealer, and she only has 23 new cars on her lot with 11 being trucks. This mess is killing the dealership owners.
It's so easy for me to forget that previous widescale pandemics took 2-3 years to finally run out and THEN things could start getting back to some new normal...

Great look at the Bronco doing the Rubicon trail. Loren Healy who helped develop the Bronco has his own aftermarket company and is testing their new suspension, sliders, and front and rear bumpers. I really like the front and rear bumpers and will be looking into these once they're out. Really shows you why sliders are necessary and rear lockers.

Also impressive is watching his 15 year old daughter in the RTR Ranger. Long video but worth watching. If you want to skip all the talking and go right to the Rubicon trail at the 13:00 mark.

That lightning at 17:45...

I'm impressed with just how much thought & I'm guessing research and experience Ford put into the Bronco, from the pre-wired switches for accessories to the bolt-on rear quarter panels.

What was really nice was they had several professional off road drivers give their input during the design. Guys like Von Gittin, Loren Healey and Curt LeDuc all had a say on different aspects from the suspension to the on board tech.

And it would appear that they didn't just ask for their input so they could say they did, but they actually listened and acted on it.

Ford released a statement yesterday concerning the Bronco hard tops, and it seems they have the situation at hand. The rough edges have been remedied, but it's going too take a couple months to take care of the back log. Then hopefully it's full speed ahead on production. That is if the computer chip manufacturer can keep pace. They are going to replace the tops of those already out in the wild, and those that are on QC hold in the plants lots. That is scheduled to began in October. Then they will build the rest of the First Editions in '21. All other orders for the hard top are scheduled for the '22 production run beginning in December. So, Bronco customers have finally received some solid communications. We can only hope there are no other problems ahead.

Ford will simply blame Covid for the roll out fiasco and delays. They did so much wrong. The first red flag I noticed was the knucklehead that released these pics. Ford is taking on the Jeep Wrangler. So why in the hell would you use these tires (at least black tape over the name “Wrangler”). You can’t tell me a multi billion dollar company can’t tell Goodyear. Give me 4 tires without the word Wrangler on it for the photo shoot. Or at least photoshop out the Wrangler name.

Then Ford releases this picture comparing Bronco with a Wrangler. This is embarrassing to have the Bronco with wrong suspension. The Bronco is squatting, you can clearly see the lower control arms are not level, they are angled up.

Remember the whole build and price designed (and delayed) by their so called rock stars?

My prediction is in two years (after the public actually starts to receive the Bronco) there will be many used Broncos for sale because today’s Corolla drivers that buy a Bronco are not going to be able to deal with the Sasquatch versions getting 17 mpg. They just don’t understand 35” tires and mpg. They will trade in a good off-roader at a loss because they can’t deal with low mpg and high cost to operate it.

Emails started going out today. More delays for the 8000 Broncos made and sitting in the dirt parking lot waiting for replacement roofs.

Chip foundry orders are still backed up and will be until at least Q4, possibly longer. And the problem has become worse in the last month or two, not better. GM had to shut down three pickup truck plants this week due to lack of chips. Part of the problem for car makers is they let their reservations go last year & this year. When sales picked up again they had to go to the end of the line, and there are long lead times.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new colors and limited edition models. As long as there aren't more parts constraints everyone should get theirs in '22. Many have changed their builds to 4dr with a soft top and many have just cancelled and moved on which will help HT buyers. All those in the Sandlot should have theirs by the end of the year of course that's barring any other MIC top issues. From the livestream it does sound like Ford has corrected the problem but I guess we'll see come October.

As much as I want mine early next year I'd rather wait and make sure all the bugs are worked out. As long as I have my Ranger I'm happy but it sure would be nice to get my Bronco before summer starts. We're planning a 4-5 week long trip after we pick it up in IA and it makes it hard to plan and make reservations when you cant get a build date. Oh well first world problems. lol

@AzScorpion

Same here brother Dave. Being retired I am a bit flexable, and I'm hoping we'll get a little lead time to make those plans. As I understand it Granger knows there will be some delivery delays when it comes to us who are driving a long distance to pick ours up. That should help some as we can't drive 1100 miles straight though to Granger, IA. Heck, at my age it's getting difficult to make 400 miles a day anymore. Our plans is to be in Des Moines on the third day, pick up the Bronco the next day, and spend the night in Des Moines again. The reason for the 2nd night is I have no idea what time we'll pick it up, and how long it will take to get the incedentals finished. And, I'm hoping all that will happen before winter sets in up that way. :)

Saw my first "in-person" Bronco on Saturday - WOW! It had the dealer plates on it, so I assume it was a dealer demo. Had a soft-top (down), 4-door in Area 51 (love that color). Wish I could have gotten a couple of pictures of it. My daughter (sitting in the backseat) thought I was joking when I told her snap some photos, so...nada :crying:
