For you folks selling them to Carvana... remove the engine cover!.. lol.. that's another $500 you can get back selling it to new Ranger owners...
Really, if you use a little rattle can matte silver and a Round Table large pizza box, you'll really make out...:bandit:

Just noticed that the madness has spread to the Car Rental industry as well.

Seems that since COVID decimated their businesses, they sold off lots of their inventory.

Now that travel is picking back up they have been caught flat-footed without enough cars.

I am a Hertz President's Circle member and I usually get a pretty nice car for roughly $35-$40 per day.

Right now the same car is anywhere from $80-$100+ per day.

So probably a good time to sell if you're just selling, but could possibly be not so good if looking to buy something else.

I've had 2 customers tell me about this just last week. I saw an article the other day where the inventory is so low in Hawaii that people are now renting U-Haul trucks. They said IF you can find a rental car they're $500/day! o_O Glad I'm not planning to rent a car anytime soon.

For anyone that has sold theirs to Carvana...how does the registration and title transfer work? I would worry it would stay in my name for a while.

Also, what did you do about the insurance? I'm assuming one would cancel on the vehicle sold and add back when another vehicle is obtained.

And, did anyone owe a current balance on the vehicle they sold? Did they complete a timely payoff?

I'm getting a crazy offer price ($1,000 over sticker)...but still not sure it's all as smooth as the claim.
I did not have an open loan. They handed me a check when they picked it up. Others have said you will get a check in a few days after the loan is closed.

The paperwork included signing some assignment of limited power of attorney so they could transfer the title, etc.

I cancelled my insurance online as soon as they left.

Put my Vette into the Carvana database last week for fun and they offered me crazy good money. Did it again this week and the offer is $3k higher.
Just put a few miles on my truck today so I will update it again this evening.

Curious what I will get...

Edit: Just added the 25 miles I put on it today.

Offer went up $700. Wow.

Okay, now the offer is up to $30,632. This is crazy! But still unsure on what to do...

Lol!! Okay, but now it looks like the incentives are not as good now as they were in April? I do like the looks of the XL model with the STX upgrades. Not much different from my XLT, but with a sportier look. I've seen a few in my area for around 28K.

I posted this in another thread, but Carvana just picked up my 2019, I got $32,268 for it in my bank account this morning. That is 4 grand more than I paid for the truck in November of 2019. I love the truck and I searched high and low for a replacement. Almost all the dealers are not negotiating it is MSRP or higher. I had a deal with Jones Ford in Charleston back in February when I started looking but the offer on my truck was to low (the best offer I had was $27,000). So they stood by the deal, and they were the only dealer to make a serious offer. So I drove down (4 hours away) to pick it up.

They are also only selling at MSRP, on any vehicle they have, do not expect a great deal of new inventory until August at the earliest, and it will be a long time until things return to normal. Great time to sell, bad time to buy. Same with housing, I have been offered over $100,000 more than I paid for my house, bought in July of 2019. Problem is I could not find anything close to my current house that would not cost $150,000 more.

I think Carvana is playing the market, knowing new cars are constrained and are buying up whatever they can. They will make it up in inflated prices and interest rates on their loans. Short term cash flow for long term profitability. I made out great, others may not be so lucky if you have to buy something right now.

If anyone in the Southeast is looking for a deal on a Ranger, Mullinax Ford in Central FL has over 100 Rangers in inventory between all their dealerships although only roughly 20+/- are 4x4s. They are selling for $4-4800 below MSRP still. They deliver free in FL, but might be worth the drive for any of you looking for a truck.
