I think Torrie is from a different company.
Torrie is the Owner of Unleashed Tuning, My truck was the R+d truck for Unleashed...(in their possession for one week)...
plus, he doesn’t monitor this forum ...

How does Torrie hold the warranty ?
HI Doc,

Correct me if I am wrong... OP purchased 5 Star Warranty, correct? Torrie is 5Star, I believe. Now if OP chooses to seek warranty reimbursement...to whom would OP go? I know you have a 5 Star tune so maybe you can clarify for me. I just think Torrie is entitled to info on the tear down and assessment and should be able to ask questions and be provided with answers. Also defend his tune as not the cause if it though to be root cause if he disagrees... Am I on the right track?

Torrie is not 5 Star ...I do not have a 5 star tune, I have an Unleashed tune ..my Truck was the R+D truck for Unleashed Tuning by Torrie ...

Correct, Torrie is Unleashed Tuning. No affiliation with 5 Star or Stage 3.

Torrie is not 5-Star. Torrie is with Unleashed Tuning, a separate entity.

We run the the Warranty Program for 5-Star, so the only people currently involved in this are Project Midnight, 5-Star, ourselves, and the dealership.

Stepping back from this individual issue since you are in the middle of it and it would be inappropriate to comment...

On a higher level, I am just curious if the warranty program claims are self funded through premiums collected or do tune shops reinsure through another entity on the backend ?

UPDATE: after running circles around with Ford Dealer Mac Haik and Ford Customer Service, no one giving me pictures of said damage, no return phone calls etc.. and the still, blanket sweep of “all the mods”, I’ve reached out to Stage 3 Motorsports for some help... I’m currently working with the President of Stage 3 Motorsports and he’s gathering information... It’s refreshing to work with someone that responds to your emails etc... Ford had quoted me $14,107 for a new stock engine with parts and labor included, to regain my Ford Warranty... as I said before, I’ll keep you updated as I find out more...
Ok, I have to ask. How can you NOT have pictures. Why do you need the dealer to give you pictures? You have a blown engine that you are trying to get covered by warranty and you haven't even been to the dealer to look at it yourself? Not trying to start something, but honestly, I find that hard to believe.

So........as per standard forum rules, "Without pictures, it never happened".

I think they both respond well to tuning. MAF systems require tuning though for simpler mods (intake) because they're not as "smart" as the newer speed density systems. Essentially they don't learn as well on the fly.

Thanks - and that makes sense - going back a ways a lot of the systems were MAF based but the engines less complex and ECU processors weren't nearly as powerful as today, the MAF programs were pretty straightforward, but I think makers have moved away from MAF owing to both reliability issues and what you mention above, plus i recall reading that MAF had some accuracy issues when dealing with larger volumes of intake air mass .
