Hey all, I'm trying to figure out what do to about leveling my ranger, its a 4x4 lariat sport package. i was considering the RC 2.5", but my local truck shop recommends the ready lift 3" kit. I just read in another thread if you go above 2.5 you need different control arms? i'm not off roading, i just want a nice level look, and possible bigger tires after the stock ones are done. Im worried about the quality of the RC spacers, the ready lift ones are solid pieces, but they are 2x as much and worried 3" is too much.

I also wouldn't not mind new rear shocks, my wife doesn't like to ride in the truck due to the bouncy ride. so if that helped i wouldn't mind. Eibachs are $200, and i could probably install them myself.

The truck shop wants $750 for the Ready lift, install, and alignment. which is a bit more than i was looking to pay, i tried to see if my dealer could install, but they haven't emailed me back. I was trying to see if I could use my 42000 ford points towards the work.

Any advice is appreciated.

I considered the ready lift kit. My main concern was I wanted a better ride than stock fx4 and reliability. So the ready lift kit is $300+ At that price I was able to order bilstein 5100 for all 4 corners and it gave my truck a 2.5 lift. It just comes down to what your looking for.

I went with Eibachs all the way around and set the front at 2.25" and the ride and look is much improved! I installed them myself a month and a half after purchasing my Lariat FX4....the bouncy ride was driving me nuts!
Edit: here’s how it looks with the 2.25 in the front.

I also have a FX4 Lariat and actually like the way it rides. I don't have the bounce everyone seems to not like. Maybe it is because my other cars have extreme sport/race car suspension settings, but the truck rides like a Caddy in comparison. Since I like the stock FX4 ride I have ruled out the FP Fox 2.0 upgrade or similar and will be going with the 2" Ready Lift. Still want a slight rake for towing and hauling. Possibly and illusion, but many of the 2.5" and 3" kits appear to have the truck leaning back meaning lower in the rear.

I don't have FX4, so im not sure if thats different suspension components, im guessing it is. I dont mind the ride, but my wife comes from cars/small SUV so i guess the "truck" ride quality is different for her.

Do you have a link for what the Eibach set up is? im looking at a link for the bilstein 5100 and they seem to be more geared for off road.

That stance is nice for a primarily street driven truck. I suspect it won't mess with (my) light towing. Middle setting on the Eibach's right?

2nd from top setting is 2.25. I would recommend the Eibach frt/rear......

I ordered the Eibach Pro-Truck Sport Shock
E60-35-048-01-01 for the rear
E60-35-048-01-10 for the front. I re-used my stock front springs.

I also have a Lariat FX4 Sport. I installed the BDS 2" front lift that actually gave me close to 2.5". I went with the BDS lift as it uses an upper spacer for part of the lift, and a riser collar mounted lower on the strut to get the rest. The geometry looks better, you have to really look close to see anything changed in the suspension, and it provides and really nice ride. I also installed FOX 2.0 shocks on the rear with boots to protect the shafts. Took me 2.5 hours to do the whole package myself on a Sunday morning. Had the alignment re-set immediately and had to re-aim the headlights. P265/70R17 on factory rims.

My measurements show the rear wheel arch three inches higher than the front. It's a pretty obvious difference and cries out for 'correction' - but I tow as well and don't want an extreme opposite incline (thinking headlights into oncoming traffic). What I gather is each snap ring position represents a 3/4ths inch lift up front with the bottom stock (on Eibach). I have the backs on (easy install, no alignment needed) and just need a day tio take it to the shop for the fronts. Middle notch is going to be one and a half inches, hmm.

@landiscarrier, what's the arch gap difference now?

I went with the RC 2.5. No impact on the ride quality, but the stance looks better. I would have spent a little bit more to get all the improvements if I were to do it over again, but I am happy with what it gave me.
