I came back south yesterday after a little more than a week 'up north's where it was cooler and drier. Re-installed the tune, got an oil change and changed the air filter. Mixed driving, and returning home I hand calculated the mileage (computer is creeping back up since I'm not towing) and snapped back to 19.19 MPG. Next tank wasn't Sam's Club premium Fuel, back to midgrade 89 octane and in spite of my original intentions of setting the cruise control near the speed limit I stayed with faster traffic and MPGs took a hit to mid 18 MPG. The on board computer says 18.5, compare that to my original post/pictures.

There's a Fuel Economy readout available on the Lariat that you can watch in real time and frankly it was more of a wagging finger saying 'how dare you flaunt that power.'

Pretty sure if I had the discipline and used the cruise set to the speed limit I would have gotten 20+ MPG easily.

I don't know if the aFe contributed or not, maybe once we are back on summer gas I'll be able to tell.

Yeah the instantaneous MPG read out is fun to look at when you gotta go.. goes down to like 1.8 MPG or something like that. My MPG has been fairly steady went from low to mid 18s to mid 19s 20s with the Velossa and Roush installed. it took a few tanks for it to adjust. One thing for sure this thing will be a winner if you do a lot of steady highway driving.

Missed that Black Friday deal by a week... /sigh

Regardless, got mine installed along with the aFe Magnum Force Scoop. Was hitting 19.0mpg on average (on-board calculation) with 90% city driving. I understand most gains will be found with highway driving, but I figured this was a fun investment that may pay off eventually for me. I do like the looks of the orange on the black truck and can definitely hear the intake sucking a bit more on acceleration. Interested to observe fuel economy moving forward.

I can't say I hear changes in intake sound, but I was never looking for it either. Interesting that you pick up on it, I wonder if it's due to the aFe more so than the Big Mouth.

The color accent on your truck is visually interesting. I think VT would like to see (and display on their site) 'sexy' user pictures if you've got 'em ?

Maybe due to my misspent youth my hearing isn't attuned.

I thought I could hear some noise from the GFB DV+ but it isn't obnoxious.

Maybe the exhaust is the dominant noise modifier...

Right. That is a 10 percent difference. I am still quite skeptical.
If I'm not mistaken DevilDog you have a highly modified Ranger to include a larger turbo? If that be the case it could be the stock inlet was choking air flow and a larger than normal increase is to be expected.

Has anyone placed this on the XLT grill? I ordered it and also the afe scoop. Only other mods I hsve are a trubosmart BOV and 5 star tuning nGuage. Wondering if this RAM will add more airflow and also has anyone with a XLT grill seen MPG differences. Thank you!

My mileage took a hit this tank. I blame my aggressive driving. Hand calc went down to 17.21 although the computer is averaging 18.2. Still better than my old sixteen and half averages. But still....

Hello everyone! Dan from VT here, I just wanted to say hi and thank everyone for your support. Robert, John etc.. All you guys who volunteered to come in and test fit, test performance and make sure this project was 110% and no less, I thank you all on the forum as well for welcoming our product line and vision. As the owner of the company and designer of the BIG MOUTH product line, I rarely see such a solid group of enthusiasts as the ranger forum. We serve over 30 platforms, some are not as welcoming as you so give yourselves some credit for being a solid group of enthusiasts.

I am not an official vendor so I cannot promote the product, however I would like to ask those in this thread who have posted pictures for permission if we can use the pictures for our social media pages and of course we'd love to tag you on IG if you have one.

@Grimlock and @Zetterbeard I love your pictures you posted up in this thread, and kindly ask for permission to use them in our picture gallery. If you have IG please let me know so I can tag you.

Thanks everyone, this has been a fun and smooth project and I am glad everyone is enjoying the product so far. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at [email protected].
