OK, so can I just upload the XML file or do I need to redo the upgrade and probably lose my climate screen? Once I can download it.
That's a good question. If you have the XML already, it's probably fine to upload, but that's completely a guess on my part.

Oh, does the factory update generate the XML file. Haven't done a factory update before

Ford site won't create the update for me. Keeps saying there's an error on their end somewhere, but no details about what the error is.

Will this update ever get pushed out over-the-air for direct download by the truck over wifi, or is the usb method the only way?

Still the same here! Their support team must be getting bombarded with so many notifcations they don't have time to fix the problem.

usually you want to push out big maintenance updates that break site features in the middle of the night when fewer people might want to use them.

unless of course the problem you're fixing is a bigger problem than what you're breaking in the process.

I'd give it a day or two and try again. ThIs down time may be (I hope) to address an issue I found with some downloads.

I did the factory update. It generated the xml file. If you downloaded from Ford and used a flash drive, the xml goes automatically to the flash drive. You must go back to your download page and send the xml file from there. Hopefully everyone is keeping your email receipt which is the easiest way to get back to that page. No xml file gets generated otherwise. None of my controls are missing and all seems well. Hope that helps.

Is there going to be a new version to fix the reported missing climate controls issue?
For that one all I can suggest at the moment is head to the dealer as I would think they should be able to update the configuration to bring it back.

Do you know by chance if all they're going to do is essentially the same as what you would do in FORScan? If so, and you can guarantee modifying settings in FORScan do not void the warranty, I might just do it now and cancel my appointment with Ford on Monday. I have the 10 year extended warranty and don't want Ford to weasel their way out of it because I "modified" the vehicle.

If they do anything, I’d guess they would do that. I don’t think anyone has had a dealer fix as of yet to verify though. I’d go the dealer route vs DIY under warranty for sure.

For one thing, as has been mentioned many many ties for them to weasel out of the warranty they would need to prove what you did caused the problem your having. Secondly if that was the case I would venture 90+ percent of us have voided ours. ?

Personally if I can fix it myself I will. I feel I have a good dealer I trust, but this forum is filled with horror stories of dealers who broke more than they fixed.

Along with this.

I went to the dealer today to have it looked at to get fixed. They hadn't heard of it yet (and hadn't actually heard about the 3.4 update for the MY19 Rangers yet), and they reached out to Ford Engineering to figure out the fix for it. They said it would take a few days and that I should hear back by Wednesday and to get in touch if I haven't. So, I'll keep everyone posted with what I find. I personally though it should be quick for them, but it sounds like this issue hasn't been pushed/communicated across the dealer network yet.

Side note - the tech also said that the last update he's seeing in the system for my truck is from December 2019, not this most recent one, so it sounds like it got pulled by Ford as well.
