Actually, I think Jeep is quite worried, which is why they chose to tease their 392 V8 Wrangler on the day of the Bronco reveal.

Notice they went straight to the 392 Scat Pack Hemi instead of the 5.7 Hemi.

Probably because they figured that with just the 5.7 Hemi, a Bronco with the 2.7 EB would still walk it.

And just wait for the markup FCA will charge for that V8.
That release has been planned for over a year. They did what any manufacturer does before their competitor releases something big. Jeep has a following like no other. I just dont see Ford upsetting that with this design.

At the end of the day, the design, and Fords advertising will decide the Broncos fate. Unfortunately neither of those have a good track record. The features are unreal but the design never succeeded and ultimately got discontinued years ago.

Forget the jeep trying to scare Ford. The bronco wins no doubt, I wish I was out earlier when I bought my 2019 ranger then it would have been a tough choice

That truck would club the Gladiator like a baby seal.

I would trade my Ranger for that, pronto.

And if they did it something like the Jeep J6 concept, even faster.

Can't drive concept so I chose reality. ?
Edit: 392ci with subsequent drive train to match. ?

the one thing I'm curious about are the water fording numbers...did they repackage the 2.3 and move the alternator, or did they just decide it wasn't an issue?

I wondered the same thing. I'm thinking the alternator is up higher.

I’m a simple man, I want the 7-Speed manual in my Ranger.

I could say I would love the 2.7 with the manual. Nowif I’m going to swing for the fence, I’d swing for the 3.5 or 5.0. That would just be crazy talk though.

Within the first minute of the reveal last night, my wife turns to me and says "we should've waited". haha Then she spent the rest of the night researching it and trying to figure out we could get one and have it make sense. haha She's partial to the 2-door in cyber orange. I can't blame her there.

It's one of those things where I'm disappointed I'll never get to have one. The truck bed is just too darn useful for me. Even though a Big Bend or Black Diamond with that manual would really hit the spot and probably be a great SUV, I'm just not sure I can convince myself. Now the wife might end up trading in her Escape in a few years for that 2-door she likes, I'd be fine with that. Or maybe I can convince my brother to get one. Then I'd at least be able to be Bronco adjacent. haha
Holy crap! Everything you said is exactly what happened at my house...wife was researching, considering getting one next year when the lease on her Escape is over.

Twilight zone stuff!

Lol

Does it have a full frame? Someone is arguing with me about it. Says F150 platform.

Well, it's definitely based on the Ranger platform, and is a body-on-frame design, that's very widely known and published, so not much to argue about there. The old Bronco was based on the F-150 platform, so maybe they're confused by that.

The Bronco Sport is a uni-body based on the Escape platform.

I am buying one. Absolutely no question about it. 2 Door Sport with the Sasquatch package and in Cyber Orange or Shadow Black. Probably going with the 2.7 and 10 spd. I should wait for year two so they have a chance to iron out any bugs like I did with the Ranger, but this is so cool looking that I might get one right away. My Wrangler is going bye bye.

Sigh...I wanted that 2.7 for the Ranger. Nice ute.

Edit: Just googled the pricing on the trims. It's not cheap.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a33302027/2021-ford-bronco-under-30000-priced/

Yeah for sure. Looks like $42k-45k for decently equipped 4-door. Minimum.....I had trouble paying $37k OTD for my Ranger. I am stuck in the old times I guess. Can't see me paying $40k for something that's worth 50-60% in 5 years. These Bronco's will sell above MSRP for a few months, then settle at MSRP for at least 1-2 years. Might find a dealer willing to negotiate a little in 2 years, but I wouldn't bank on it.

I'm confused I guess. Body on frame? Not sure I know what that means.

I wish the sport wasn't called a Bronco.

100% agree. It should have been the Escape and the new Escape should have been something else. I think Ford missed the mark on that. "Escape Badlands" had a better ring than "Bronco Sport Badlands"....lol

I read that the Bronco can only tow 3,500 lbs. Seems very low for a body on frame design, especially since the Ranger can tow 7,500 lbs and they supposedly share a platform. Anyone know why this is?
