its been quite awhile...whats the verdict?

My appointment is for Thursday morning. But I wanted to try and open the hood when it cooled down (just got back from Atlanta). I tried this morning and it opened right up. I'm going to lubricate the latch and watch it. Kind of crazy...but I'd rather use grease then go to Ford. If it fails again, I'll do the same thing. Then, when I have to take it in for service, I'll let the experts take a look.

One benefit from Ford not doing their job with the pre-delivery checklist was that the washer fluid tank was empty to begin with. Since I had to fill it, I ran into the hood latch problem. Maybe, this will save me from having a worse problem down the road - since I got to lubricate a hood latch. The air in the tires was 45 pounds, no washer fluid, rear diff low,.....I'm learning.

Dealer responsibility, not Ford. Not sure why you had no washer fluid from the factory. It comes into the plant in huge tanker trucks and every truck is to be filled with a measured amount. It is not filled up but here is fluid there....Wonder why yours was dry....Are you sure there wasn't any fluid in the bottle...maybe you just could not see it?

Hey Phil,
We had a little...about a short squirt...then the error code showed up. Which was fine...it made me try to fill it. That's when the hood release didn't work. I tried it this morning, and it released. I put a little spray lubricant on the spring and catch - seems ok now. I have no idea why it didn't release. I've done it a few times in the past. We even changed the oil about a month ago - no problem. We have a full gallon of washer fluid now. I'm going to keep an eye on it. Thanks for the info.

My washer fluid tank was almost empty when I drove off the lot. In the end I decided that was a good thing as the factory washer fluid did not seem very effective, so I was able to fill the tank with some stuff I know works well for me.

Rear diff was low? I never even thought to check that.

From what I understand, it doesn't top off...just kind of slooshes around. But it should have a decent amount. We checked it out just out of curiosity.

When I got mine home I had a bug deflector to install. Took me a solid 20min to get it open. Ended up having a neighbor push n pull up on the hood while I messed with the handle pull in the cab.
It finally popped and havent had a problem since.
I thought I was losing my mind...I was a race mechanic for 20 years lol and cant open a dang hood!

When I got mine home I had a bug deflector to install. Took me a solid 20min to get it open. Ended up having a neighbor push n pull up on the hood while I messed with the handle pull in the cab.

Not sure what hood deflector you put on but did you need to adjust the hood latch up a little to get the hood to close easier. I had to do that when I put on my AVS Bugdeflector II. Haven't had any issues with the hood not opening yet, but will watch for it and keep it lubed.

Ya the AVS... have to slam the hood a bit harder lol but...dont open the hood that much. If it becomes an issue I'll raise the latch

I lubricated the spring and latch...so far I'm good. I put in the Roush CAI and added lots of washer fluid.

We used this to open doors. The master key!

It's not operator error. I have been releasing hoods for 50 years. I know how to do it. The hood will not release when I use the latches. I was hoping there was a way I can reach the latch without the usual pull cable.

Does it feel like theres tension when you activate the dash release, if so, tap the hood in the milddle of the hood with your fist, or have a person pull and hold the dash latch and try fisting the hood
