Without going to further off topic, peoples privacy is no longer private.

Example:
If you have a private phone number for your landline, you pay for it to be unlisted. Years ago, this came about with fat paper phone books. Ma Bell's claim was it's easier and cheaper to maintain everyone's name, address and phone number by listing it in their books... you pay to keep it out.
If they were to complain now about money, wouldn't you'd think they'd make more money by making you subscribe to that fat book? They'd rather charge you small fees to remove it.

Now let's say we fast forward to today. You still pay for that private number and chances are the company you are with, will keep it private.
BUT, there are info companies out there that have no qualms about crawling everywhere for your info from all sources and will publish it! Don't believe me?
Anyone with a private number landline reading this, enter your phone number in google and watch what comes up.

First offense I caught was ATT with their Anywho, (think that was it), info search engine. I threaten to sue them if not removed. Took a lot of screaming and got it done. But for every ATT, there were a dozen more info sites cropping up. Like a spreading virus, it could be a full time job.

So why is your info so important to keep private?
Example: (True story)...
My wife was married to a big time loser. He beat and stabbed her. She moved to FL to get away and he, (not being the smartest tack), tried to find her. She could not find work so she came back to NJ where she met me. He was warned that if he came anywhere near her, well, you know.....
He backed off.
You know how he finally found her? Went into a cell phone store to buy a new phone and account. You had to get your credit check then and the dumass clerk said, "Oh, is your wife's name #### and do you still live at ## #### Ave in ####.... He fumbled and said, "Yea, that is us"... In realty the tart behind the counter, just gave the idiot all our info.
He was wanted, the pd could not find him. I use to track people for a living. I would have found him and he'd be in jail. But I decided to put out a flea in people's ears that if came looking for my wife, he'd, well, again, you know.... To top it off, she had a restraining order and as history has showed us, its about as useless as the paper its written on....

I can find paper trails on just about anyone as a civilian now where years ago, I had to be part of a system that was involved in law enforcement or similar capacity.

It's nobodies business period. Quite frankly, I don't know anyone here personally. Would you give your personal info to a stranger? Lic plates, ID , SSN, etc. You must protect them as you see fit. If not, it's on you! Yes, people will see some of it, but they most likely can care less. But the info is there for the picking. Why make it easier?

I never understood the whole blacking out of the license plate? You're plate number is exposed everyday that you take it out of your garage for the whole world to see. :inspect:
A couple years ago I was driving back from a hike and was stopped for a while (along with a couple dozen other vehicles) thanks to a single-vehicle DUI rollover. By the time we got to the backup, the emergency vehicles were already on the scene, and there was no possible detour, so the only thing to do was sit, wait, and watch. While waiting, to get a better idea about what happened, I grabbed my SLR and the longest lens I had with me, walked partway down the line of waiting cars, and took a couple of zoomed-in shots of the accident scene. I walked back to our vehicle and showed the pictures to the group of people my dad was chatting with so that they could see what they were waiting on, then turned around to find myself face-to-face with a very large man.

"Are you a reporter?" he asked calmly, and I told him I was not.

Suddenly he got angry: "Then why are you taking pictures of everyone's license plates?" I explained that I wasn't taking pictures of license plates, apologized for giving that impression, and explained I just took a couple pictures with zoom to see what was going on.

Then he went on a bizarre tirade about how somebody is having the worst day of their life and I'm violating their privacy and spreading their personal identifying information all over, as we the personal identifying information of everybody else who just happens to be on the road that day, finished it off with a curt "I hope you're proud of yourself. Have a nice day." before wheeling around and marching back in the direction he came from.

Funny thing is I went back and looked at the pictures I took. Simply by chance, I did not capture one single license plate. Not any of the stopped vehicles. Not the rolled over vehicle. Not even the tow truck. Even if I had, I honestly have no idea of anything nefarious I could have done with this information that I can readily get from hundreds of vehicles I see each day.

Yes, it can be tough for an old guy to access the bed, so I found a hitch step that attaches to your tow hitch, keeping the ball accessible, on closeout at Go Rhino where I got my running boards. It was only $30, which wasn't bad, and they had black or chrome. It works but now I need a hitch lock so no one steals it! Like the t-shirt says "Old Guys Rule" :)

Did my bedliner last night. Rustoleum's kit. Worked really well, I think. Biggest pain was the prep. It's still a little tacky, so it will stay in the garage for a couple days. I had a gift certificate, so it only cost ~ $50 and a six pack. Then I pulled the front tow hooks and sprayed them along with the cargo holds the closest color I could to Ford's performance blue. I couldn't see paying their price for aftermarket ones. I know it won't hold up forever, but I also don't plan on using them ha (maybe the cargo's a little). If they get too rough I'll look into powder / cerakote.

I had the tail light recall done. It passed the test. More fun part is that I had the Ford performance level kit installed.
