Digging around i can reach the bulb and remove it from the housing and put it back. However there is not enough slack for me to undo the bulb from its connector.

So what are the proper steps to access the fog light bulbs?

Thanks!

I have a set of LED fogs in housings to replace the stock fogs, need to get around to doing that soon. If I come up some tips will pass along.

I was just able to remove and cable hung down so I could pull bulb out. No issue on mine. Maybe you cable is shorter or excess hooked somewhere. No issue here so not sure what to suggest. Getting hand in was harder part.

I think the key is to have long skinny hands and flexible slender wrists, like me! haha Finally being called skinny and "frail" and "weak" all my life is paying off! haha

Seriously though, the hardest part was getting my hand and wrist up in there to do it all. I think I read somewhere that someone took the whole plastic trim piece off or something. The wiring certainly isn't long enough to come dangling down, but it should be long enough to just barely see it peak out, enough for a quick bulb swap at least.

Key item is remember rotation direction when you remove each, as it makes it easier to install. Left hand and right hand turning always a challenge depending on your favorite side.

On my FX4 the easiest way to get at the fogs was to drop the skid plate. 15mm socket and loosen the two back bolts, then remove the two front bolts. Slide the plate off the back Bolt and drop it down onto a rug under the truck. A five minute job, took longer to find my socket wrench. Easy to get at the bulbs then.

Side note I would recommend bulbs without a fan for the fogs as they are not enclosed and are exposed to the elements.

I’m trying to replace mine as we speak. I have 2019 lariat with LED fogs, the bulb housing does not turn. I believe its a whole unit removal. I’m pissed, WTF

@Bobby-C I think Big Blue has the right idea.... a little more "work" but less overall hassle and frustration ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I did all that, the bulb housing does not turn like the XLT's.

I think that is normal for OE LED lights, they are part of the housing, non-replaceable.

Looking at the images of the LED fog light on the parts site, it looks to be the case with these as well.

Some I'm guessing you can't just replace the bulb than?
