2019 Ford Ranger Spotted Testing in Colorado and Australia

Here’s your best look yet at Ford’s midsize truck revival. Needless to say, we’re lookin’ and we’re likin’.
A few weeks ago we spotted what appears to be a Raptor version of the forthcoming 2019 Ford Ranger. Now we have additional photographic (and video) evidence of not one, but two different camo-covered Rangers testing in two different continents.

Our peek at the revised global Ranger comes from the guys at CarAdvice, who snagged a series of shots of a crew cab roaming around rural Australia. This particular example is an update of the PXII Ranger, which debuted in 2015. It retains the same basic platform as the current global Ranger, albeit with the addition of new design features.

The US version of the 2019 Ford Ranger is expected to feature slightly different styling and mechanical specifications, but will roughly be the same size and shape, according to Motor Authority. Some features unique to the American Ranger should include the addition of coil springs with Watt’s linkage, rear disc brakes, and different engine options.

Some of those unique styling cues are visible in this spy video from the good folks at The Fast Lane Truck, who spotted what appears to be an American spec Ranger testing in Colorado Springs. Like the Aussie pickup, we get a good look at the front-end design. The most obvious change so far seems to be a twin-bar grille design, much like we’ve already seen on the F-150 and Super Duty.

It’s difficult to discern from these sightings exactly what styling differences we’ll see between the two Rangers, but any variations figure to be subtle. Regardless, it’s nice to see the beloved nameplate finally returning to America.
